Long Beach Organic Garden plots are rented on a six month basis, March to Aug and Sept to Feb.

Founded in 1994, we locate urban vacant lots from public and private owners and turn them into beautiful community gardens for local and sustainable food production.

Learn how to identify and forage for common plants growing around Long Beach, then turn them into tasty pesto. We'll also be firing up the earth oven to try our garden-made pestos on delicious pizza dough, generously provided by the Zaferia Long Beach Beer Lab!

Hello friends, my name is Alejandra and I am a student at CSULB. I am a human development major and Spanish minor! I currently work in the vet field and also work with first year community college students navigate through sports and school. After college I plan on continuing working as a mentor. Ever wondered how to capture a picture without a camera? Do you find creative inspiration in the nature that surrounds us? Then we have just the workshop for you!

Join us Saturday May 23rd at 10 AM for a lesson on cyanotype printing and explore the Zaferia Community Garden with an artist's eye. We'll be working together to create pictures inspired by the life in the garden and learn to identify the plants we create with.

Hi guys, I'm Ryan Gregory. I’m a student at CSULB and I am a human development major. My favorite thing to do is surfing and running track in field. I chose help out with Long Beach Organic because I grew up in Minnesota around farms and agriculture. I thought it would be a fun activity to do, helping out the gardens. My favorite fruit is apples because there’s a lot of apple orchards in Minnesota and I used to go and pick them every weekend with my family.
