Once a year, when the nights grow colder, the spectral librarian of the Lexington Writers Room opens the library and releases the stories from their shelves.

Every door leads to a different tale of horror. Characters wander the halls. Guests arrive in disguise. There are games to play, stories to write, and prizes for those who dress the part.

For one Dark and Story Night, the Lexington Writers Room invites you to read our rooms and become part of the story.

Screenwriters... this one's for you!

We're partnering up with the Women in Film Kentucky nonprofit (based in Louisville) to create a monthly screenwriting group for Lexington-based writers. It is open to all genders.

Join the Lexington Writer’s Room for A Dark & Story Night, a literary-themed Halloween party for writers, readers, and lovers of all things spooky. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

We’ll have snacks and drinks, music, candy, ghost stories, and plenty of Halloween fun. So grab your cape, witch hat, detective coat, or just yourself, and come spend a delightfully dark evening with us.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Suggested donation: $10.
