American Morgan Horse Association Youth The Morgan youth program is designed to bring out the best in its members—no matter what their skills or interests.

The American Morgan Horse Association Youth (AMHAY) is an international organization of young people who have a common interest in the Morgan horse, America's oldest breed. With youth members in the United States, Canada, and all over the world, AMHAY offers a variety of programs that challenge members to become involved, to learn, and to develop competence in all areas of the horse industry. As they work with the Morgan horse, members develop a sense of sportsmanship and fair play, learn citizenship skills, master leadership skills, and develop discipline and a sense of responsibility for themselves, their horses, and their clubs. Owning a Morgan horse is not a requirement for membership. Membership in AMHAY is open to all young people who have not reached their 21st birthday as of December 1 of the previous year.

My name is Emily, I am 15 years old, and I own a horse named Kobylar Victory. This is my first time competing in the senior youth contest in Oklahoma, but this is my 5th year at MGN. I go to Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Massachusetts. I have been riding for almost 8 years and I ride with Travis Neidlinger Stables. I would like to be the AMHA Youth of the Year this year because after competing in the Junior Invitational for 2 years, whether my riding classes were successful or not, the Youth Mixer was always filled with qualified, intelligent, and welcoming competitors. Standing beside them this year, next to many of my role models, I would love to be able to finally call them peers.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫!

I'm 16-year-old Andrew Cooper. I am a 12th grade homeschool student, oldest son of Toni and Aron Cooper, and proud big brother to Seth. In 5th grade I left private school for homeschool, a decision that changed how I learn and opened doors I never expected.
This year I was elected to student council at our large Homeschool Academy. Interviewing for the role pushed me to grow as a communicator, and now I help organize events, lead service projects, and build relationships across our school community.
I found horses in 2017 visiting friends in Texas, and by 2021 I was competing with my horse, Cooper, who is a loyal, hardworking partner. I volunteer at the barn multiple days a week, working and caring for the horses, learning everything from vet visits to shoeing along the way. The barn has taught me as much as any classroom.
This year, I earned first place in every championship class I entered at the Buckeye Morgan Horse Show, a result of years of steady work with Cooper. Besides riding, I work multiple jobs, from construction with my uncle to trade work with my papa and more, and that income is what gets us to the shows.
Outside the barn, I compete in Jiu-Jitsu and run a 3D printing business. My parents raised us to think like entrepreneurs, creating value instead of earning an allowance. Getting my license brought a new kind of freedom: I've driven multiple cars and a 45-foot motorhome across the country. I love cars almost as much as horses.
Youth of the Year has been its own challenge. I'm a quiet processor, and public speaking used to terrify me. I'm still not the loudest person in the room, but I've learned to communicate with clarity and purpose, even when it's uncomfortable.
I want to be Outstanding Youth of the Year because I want to be an ambassador for the Morgan Horse community. As an ambassador, I want to bring more camaraderie back to our shows to include fun, low-stakes events, like water fights and scooter races, that get everyone out of the ring and into each other's company. This community has given me friendships from across the country, and I want the chance to bring us together and give back to something that's given me so much.

This scholarship honors the founder of Western Dressage, Ellen DiBella, for her years of service to all things Morgan and especially her support in the creation of the WDAA (Western Dressage Association of America). To preserve and encourage the classical methods as applied to the Western discipline that Ellen DiBella strongly believed in, The Morgan Horse Foundation, Inc. shall make an award of up to $1000 to a Morgan individual wishing to further his or her skill, knowledge, or proficiency in ridden Western Dressage utilizing Morgan horses.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐆𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐧!

I’m Amelia Gordon, I’m 15 years old and I started riding horses when I was 3, and began competing at age 6. I ride horses with my mom and sister, and my dad and brother are here supporting us! This is my 3rd year competing in youth contests, but my first time as a senior. I was awarded the Cecil Brown Memorial Sportsmanship Award as a Junior last year here in OKC. I’m also a member of the AMHA Youth Council. In my freetime I snowboard, water ski, wake board, play tuba, and am captain of my Highschool Equestrian Team. At school I am in the Leo Club, which is a volunteer based club to help the community through kind deeds and fundraising. I currently show in Morgan Classic Pleasure as a Junior Exhibitor. I have 3 Morgans and 1 Saddlebred. Morgans became my favorite breed when we got my Morgan gelding, Boo, and my love for Morgans grew deeper upon adopting a 26 year old Morgan mare, Ruby. My mare has taught me how much you can bond with a horse and has taught me responsibility by taking care of her every day. What I’ve learned from my gelding is how much hard work pays off. When I grow up I want to major in Biology, then pursue Vet School to become either a Large Animal and Equine Veterinarian or become an Equine Teleradiologist. I would like to be selected Outstanding Morgan Youth of The Year because it provides opportunities to meet new people, and experience new things. As well as learning more about Morgans.

My name is Carson Pfeifer. I am a senior at Columbia Central High School in Michigan. I attend academic classes in the morning and am part of an Automotive Technology program in the afternoon. I have been accepted to the University of Northwestern Ohio for High Performance Automotive Technology, starting in the fall of 2027. I love learning the ins and outs of cars and their functions. I plan on having a career in the automotive industry.
I have been riding Morgan horses since I was 8 years old and attended my first camp. Since then I have continued to grow from lessons to 4-H to breed shows. I have been working at my barn, Hidden Oak Stables, since I was 14. I love spending quality time with people at the barn and snuggling the horses. It’s been very important to me to grow as a rider the best I can. Mistakes are to be expected, but what matters is what you take away from them. My goal is to learn after every ride and grow from that.
Every new skill is a new adventure and what you can learn is endless. Riding is great for building confidence and being comfortable on a horse, which are skills that translate to other areas of life. It has helped me build friendships and given me a second family. Being fortunate enough to ride horses will be one of the highlights of my life.
