Today is the big day! Our Bluegrass Gives fundraiser day is here.

Your gift helps ensure every young musician has access to exceptional music experiences, no matter their family’s financial circumstances. This fundraiser helps ensure that our Friends in Music program is funded for years to come!

I hope everyone is staying warm! We will NOT have Friends in Music on Wednesday, January 7th due to Fayette County Schools being closed.

As a reminder: when FCPS cancels school or after-school activities, Friends in Music will also be cancelled.

Did you know that Friends in Music has grown to include over 125 middle school students this year! Each week, 125 orchestra students at Leestown and Bryan Station are getting FREE lessons on their instrument from a high school mentor! The students are pushed to work hard and persevere even when learning their instrument is hard. We are working to build a generation of resilient students who push through their insecurities and not give up. Music may be our means but it is not the focus.

Friends in Music is an after school music mentoring program that pairs advanced high school musicians with orchestra students at Leestown and Bryan Station Middle School. Our high school students tutor the middle school students on their music and create a positive mentoring partnership.
We also give over $10,000 in music lesson scholarships for students to learn from a professional musician every school year. Students who utilize these scholarships are excelling musically. They are earning spots in honors orchestras and have the potential to earn college music scholarships!
Musical opportunities can truly change the path of a child’s life.

The Good Giving Challenge for Friends in Music is today! I am so passionate about this program and what it does to make an impact in our community.
CKYO Friends in Music is much more than a music program. It is about creating positive mentoring partnerships that truly make a difference in the lives of our students. It's about teaching kids to work hard and persevere even when things are not easy. It is about teaching a generation to respect and spend time giving back. It's about love and commitment.
