There’s no better way to celebrate than by giving a cat a loving home! Adopting means welcoming companionship, purrs, and plenty of personality into your life—and giving a deserving cat a fresh start.

We have many cats of all ages ready for adoption at GAHS, from playful kittens to lovable adults and sweet seniors. Stop by today between 11 AM and 5 PM to meet your new best friend!

Love animals? Love helping people? We’d love to meet you!

GAHS is hiring an Animal Care Associate! This role is about caring for both ends of the leash by providing hands-on daily care for shelter animals in addition to welcoming and supporting the community members who come through our doors.

You’ll help keep animals fed, comfortable, and in clean spaces while also answering questions, assisting adopters, and working alongside staff and volunteers. We’re looking for someone who listens with empathy, communicates clearly, and knows the little details make a big difference.

Beginning Monday, October 26, choose a plastic apple from our basket when you adopt to reveal a prize or savings on your adoption fee. What sweet surprise will you pick? 🍎

Kobe was in the spotlight on yesterday’s Fetch Me A Home segment on NEWS CENTER Maine, and this lovable adult Lab-type dog is looking for a family to share his next chapter!

He came to us after a major lifestyle change meant his family could no longer meet his needs. He loves spending time with his people and would be thrilled to find someone who’s up for walks, playtime, and a little training - especially if he gets to show off what he already knows!

Kobe has lived with kids and cats and has enjoyed time with dogs belonging to family and friends. He’s never lived with another dog, though, so we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet if you have a pup at home.

Think Kobe might be your kind of guy? Watch the segment, then make a plan to come meet him. The GAHS will be open 11-5pm tomorrow.

The cuteness is creeping in at Evergreen Subaru in Auburn!

Our Howl-ween adoption event is just getting underway, and we’ve got puppies and kittens ready to meet you! Stop by, say hello, and you might just fall under the spell of your new best friend.

We’re also Stuffing the Subaru with donations to support the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society! Bring along a donation and help us fill it with love for animals in need.

Come for the cuteness, give for a good cause, and maybe head home with a little treat of your own - a new family member! 👻🐾

Who’s ready for some extra hocus pocus around the house?

We’ll have an adorable lineup of puppies and kittens ready to meet you at our Howl-ween adoption event tomorrow at Evergreen Subaru! Visits and adoptions begin at 11am, and these little pumpkins are hoping to trade a few Halloween tricks for the biggest treat of all: a family of their own.

Expect plenty of love, a little mischief, and absolutely no promises that your slippers are safe from shenanigans!

All of these cuties are ready for their next chapter.

Each is:
✅ Spayed or neutered
✅ Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines
✅ Microchipped
✅ Going home with a to-go bag of food
✅ Provided with a list of local vets offering a FREE wellness visit to establish care

Potential adopters will be assisted in order of arrival, and we cannot place holds ahead of time. Regular adoption fees apply: $410 for puppies and $240 for kittens.
