If you are out and about this week, especially Art Walk Lewiston Auburn night. Wish the man behind the camera a fabulous birthday week! We had to go through almost a decade worth of photos to find any with him.

Here's to Gary Stallsworth our elusive photo documentarian, L/A Arts board member and all around great guy. Happy birthday week. Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

OPENING THIS FRIDAY

Join us on Friday, August 28 from 5–8pm during the Artwalk for the Opening Reception of Harold Strout: Visions of Light

Harold Strout is a central Maine-based fine art photographer working with digital and large-format analog photography. His work is informed by cinema, experimental lighting and found objects, and expresses portraiture, landscapes, assemblage and conceptual themes in color and black and white.

He studied photography at Vermont College but is a primarily self-taught artist. Over twenty years of studio practice, his work has been shown in juried and solo exhibits throughout Maine, including at the University of Maine and the Blaine House, and has been published in the United States and Canada with the poetry of David Moreau.

VISIONS OF LIGHT
August 28 – October 16
LA Arts, 168 Lisbon St., Lewiston, ME
Opening Reception, August 28, 5–8pm
________________________

"This collection of photographs represents many years of image making to the present. While the work spans portraiture, landscape, assemblage of found objects and conceptual genres, the curation is purposeful. What drives my creative exploration and unifies the exhibition is the treatment of light: how light has been expressed and how it reveals mood, memory and tone regardless of genre and subject. Whether the source is natural, carefully set up in a studio, or emanating from old television screens, the awareness and deep appreciation of light has been the greatest gift that photography has revealed to me. I invite you to consider the gift of light and how these images may contribute to your own visions."
