COA is hiring 2-4 Part-Time community organizers to support our 2026 voter engagement work in Maine! 
Community Organizers will work directly with community members to increase voter participation, strengthen relationships with voters, recruit and engage volunteers, and ensure communities that are often overlooked by traditional campaigns have the information and support needed to participate in elections. 

This is a field-focused position. Organizers should be comfortable talking with community members, canvassing, phone banking, building relationships, and working toward voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.

We’re looking for 2–4 Part-Time Community Organizers to help build community power through voter outreach, volunteer recruitment, canvassing, phone banking, and civic engagement across Maine.

If you’re passionate about organizing, building relationships, and making a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Maine (primarily Lewiston/Auburn & Portland)
$26/hour
Flexible schedule (10–20 hours/week)
Temporary through November 15, with potential future opportunities.

Our communities are facing fear, uncertainty, and continued ICE enforcement. Our work cannot end at rallies and vigils. We must organize, build power, and challenge the systems that continue to harm our communities.

Voting is one of the most powerful tools we have, but too many Black, Brown, and immigrant communities face barriers to exercising that right.

Community Organizing Alliance (COA) is seeking a Program Coordinator with a strong commitment to our values of racial and social equity, as well as advancing systemic change and policy at the community and government levels. The Program Coordinator will manage, plan, and oversee our Career Discovery Program (CDP), which exposes youth to career opportunities through professional pathways across Maine through conferences, employer networking, mentorship, and hands-on skill-building opportunities. COA is reviewing applications on a rolling basis, with a priority given to those received by July 31st. More details and application information can be found on COA’s website.

More information about tonight’s vigil in Lewiston .

As we hold this vigil for Joan, his family and all victims of ICE killings, we will also hold space for the immigrant communities in Lewiston, who have experienced continued and sustained harm in recent weeks. From youth gun violence, to harassment targeting worshippers at the masjid, to the devastating apartment fire that displaced families, our communities have been carrying an immense amount of grief.

Tonight, we stand together in solidarity, honor Joan’s life, and call for a swift, thorough, and transparent investigation into this fatal shooting.

We’ll join in collaboration with the interfaith community, have speakers and food truck .
