There’s nothing quite like the feeling of a shower after a long day… until you reach for the soap and realize: you don’t have any.

For young people experiencing homelessness, having basic hygiene products isn’t something they can take for granted. Help us stock the shelves with shampoo and body wash so the simple things, like taking a shower, can actually be simple.

A new outfit and a haircut may seem like simple things, but they can make a world of difference. Thanks to the generosity of Franklin Savings Bank, one of our youth was able to shop for new clothes and shoes, and get a haircut before heading back to school.

Not everyone gets to witness the difference that meeting basic needs can make in a young person's life. But when you do, you'll never forget it. Their posture changed. Their smile appeared. Their excitement grew. They walked away feeling ready to take on the first day of school with confidence.

With school starting back this week a special "thank you" goes out to Franklin Savings Bank for donating $2,700 for back to school supplies, clothes, and haircuts for homeless youth in Maine!

We are pleased to announce that Zakk Maher has joined the organization as Director of Development and Community Relations.

Maher will lead fundraising, operational development, and community relations, strengthening the partnerships and resources that support New Beginnings’ work with youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Maine.
