Mission Need Alert: Canned Vegetables, Cereal, Men's Deodorant, Body Wash/Shampoo. If you are making out a shopping list and would be willing/able to add some things for our guests to your list, here are some of our greatest needs. These are actually ongoing needs. Note: the deodorant and body wish will be on our Amazon wish list (see link below), but we can't add the cereal or canned vegetables because they often arrived damaged. A short time ago, we welcomed Human Relations & Community Services Staff from the City of Lansing, at our single adult shelter. It was a joy to be able to give them a tour and meet them. We are always so grateful to meet and speak with those working to meet needs in our community. 🩵

Shared by staff: "To prep for the storm, we asked all the guests to move away from the windows and closed down the courtyard. This led to all the guests gathered in a small space of where you could see everyone. At first glance you notice that everyone is crammed in because there are 10 tables (next to windows) that aren’t being used. It looks like a bunker. People are shoulder to shoulder. However, everyone is smiling and no one is complaining about the small space. Everyone was grateful to be inside from rain. I paused and felt God’s presence. Providing shelter from the storm. This is what it looks like. Forty two people were inside from the moment the wind picked up to now. And even more have come in to get out of the rain."

Behind the Scenes of Mission Manna 🍽: Our cooks and prep volunteers work hard behind the scenes to ensure we have enough salads and fruit (if available) to serve about 250 people every night. That's a lot of food to prep (and a lot of dishes to wash!). If you are interested in being a part of making our meals happen, they can use volunteers (especially those able to come on a regular basis). Donation Center Summer Hours: we have a few dates coming up when we need to temporarily suspend hours at our item donation center. We close early tomorrow, Friday (May 29) and will remain closed Saturday (May 30) and Monday (June 1). We are always closed Sundays. We reopen Tuesday, June 2, with regular hours (10 AM - 6 PM). If you have donations of clothing or hard good items, the best location to take those is always our thrift store: City Rescue Mission Uplift Thrift, 3800 W. Saginaw, in Lansing. They have hours of 10 AM to 8 PM (closed Sundays). Thank you for understanding and have a lovely weekend! 🩵

We recently had an opportunity to provide a tour of our new single adult shelter to a group from Holt Christian Church, including some who faithfully serve as volunteers at our women and children's shelter and at City Rescue Mission Uplift Thrift! It's always a joy to meet with people and show all that the Lord has provided through the faithful gifts and compassion of our community. 🩵
