For Carl Gombert, creativity has always been a part of life.

An artist and longtime professor at Maryville College, Carl spent more than three decades teaching, creating, and inspiring others. When prostate cancer became part of his story, he approached a new chapter—one that has included treatment, uncertainty, and a continued determination to keep doing the things that bring meaning to his life.

This week on Health Matters with Dr. Jay Crook, Carl opens up about his experience with prostate cancer, while sharing how art, creativity, and the people around him have remained important throughout his journey.

Hear Carl’s story alongside expert insight from Dr. Wesley White of UT Medical.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Wesley White as our guest expert on this week’s Health Matters with Dr. Jay Crook, in collaboration with UT Medical.

A Knoxville native and University of Tennessee graduate, Dr. White currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology. After completing his urology residency at UT Medical Center, he pursued advanced fellowship training in laparoscopic and robotic urologic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

Board-certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. White brings extensive experience and expertise to the diagnosis and treatment of urologic conditions.

This week, he joins Dr. Crook for an important conversation about prostate cancer, including risk factors, screening, diagnosis, and the treatment options available to patients today.
