Galveston Bay dolphins took us to San Juan, Puerto Rico! 🐬🇵🇷

Last week, Galveston Bay Dolphin Research Program researchers joined marine mammal scientists from around the world in Puerto Rico for the 26th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals.

More than 1600 attendees came together to share research, exchange ideas, and make connections! 🌎

Past and present GDRP team members presented five studies featuring Galveston Bay bottlenose dolphins, exploring topics from residency to vocalization. Beyond sharing our latest findings, we loved reconnecting with many people who have contributed to this work over the years! 💙

🌅 Good company, beautiful views, and a whole lot of love for Galveston Bay!

We enjoyed an unforgettable sunset cruise with our President’s Circle and Heron Society donors, Titanium Top 30 riders, and GBF board members. 💙 It was a special evening celebrating the incredible community that makes our conservation work possible.

🐦 Birding at Turtle Bayou? Count us in!

We had a great time exploring Turtle Bayou Nature Preserve for a bird survey as part of the Great Texas Birding Classic! 🌿👀

From wetlands to coastal prairie, we spotted feathered friends and got a closer look at the incredible habitats that make Turtle Bayou such a special place for birds.

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us get our bird nerd on! 🐦💚 And a big shoutout to the Great Texas Birding Classic for bringing birders together across Texas!

🌱💧 A weekend recap from our GBF staff!

We spent Saturday sending 45 rain barrels to their new homes so they can collect and conserve rainwater! 🙌

We kept the good vibes growing at our Fall Native Plant Sale, where Bay lovers stocked up on native plants and grasses to bring a little more habitat home. 🌿🦋

Big thanks to everyone who spent the weekend with us! Whether you grabbed a rain barrel, loaded up on plants, or just came out to support the Bay. We’re so glad you were there! 💙
