Science City is a place of wonder, where kids and adults can find something new with each visit. There are no tests and no wrong or right answers, just a chance to explore with freedom and pure imagination. Its magic starts with its location. An architectural and historic marvel, Union Station provides a venue unlike any other science center in the nation. From the moment you pass under the clock tower to your first step inside the cityscape of Science City, the experience sets the stage for making memories. The educators at Science City are equally passionate about taking that magic outside the science center's walls. Every year, its educators reach out to schools and organizations across the Kansas City metropolitan area with assembly programs, stage shows and science nights.

Join us on Saturday, November 14, for our next Saturday STEM Seminar — Above and Beyond: Life as an Aerospace Engineer!

Discover what it's like to work at the cutting edge of aerospace engineering with Brad Lucht, a retired aerospace engineer whose nearly 40-year career included work on space motors, rockets, missiles, helicopters, a fighter jet, an aircraft carrier, and nuclear weapons.

Brad, who currently hosts the Theodore Talk lecture series for American Mensa, will share what inspired him to pursue aerospace engineering, fascinating projects from his career, and valuable lessons learned along the way.

Each Saturday STEM Seminar features a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute interactive Q&A.

THIS SUNDAY at Science City! Get set for a DINO-MITE day of dino discovery at our monthly Dino Lab Open House.

It's an amazing opportunity to get hands-on with paleontology. We'll even have a FREE FOSSIL for every guest who visits the Dino Lab!

Happening this Sunday, November 8, 12pm-4pm.

Open house activities include:

• Tours of the Dino Lab
• Learn how paleontologists hunt fossils and prepare specimens in the Lab for further study
• See current projects that the paleontology team is working on to recover dinosaur bones from the Kansas City area
• See and touch real fossils
• FREE fossil for each guest
• Explore our new Jurassic Journey exhibit featuring lifelike and life-size animatronic dinosaurs, fossils, skeletons, interactive elements, and more

This weekend at Science City, it's Bank of America "Museums on Us." And that means Bank of America customers can get a free admission by presenting their Bank of America bank card at our Ticket Office.

Valid Saturday, November 7, 10am-5pm and Sunday, November 8, 12-5pm. Limit of one free Science City ticket per cardholder. Not valid with any other offer or discount.

To receive your free admission, visit Union Station Ticketing on Level B. Please be prepared to show your Bank of America Card and a valid ID.

"Museums on Us" weekends happen the first full weekend of every month. Thanks to Bank of America for supporting this national promotion, giving free general admission to more than 225 museums and science centers.

Sensory Sunday returns to Science City on Sunday, November 15, presented by Building Hope for Autism!

Join us for this special sensory-friendly Science City experience before public opening.

Science City’s Sensory Sunday takes place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This experience is designed to provide a welcoming environment for guests on the autism spectrum and those with sensory sensitivities. Sound effects are turned off, lighting effects are minimized, sensory-friendly activities are available, and designated quiet areas are provided.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., our staff will gradually turn on Science City’s regular sound and lighting effects and attractions in preparation for public opening at noon.

Sensory Sunday guests are welcome to stay and enjoy Science City throughout the day until closing at 5 p.m.

Parents! Bring your Pokémon fans and join us for Science City's first-ever Pokémon Fan Celebration! Happening Saturday, November 14.

Join fellow fans for a day packed with Pokémon-inspired fun and learning, including educator-led special activities, hands-on creations, special challenges and even a Pokémon-themed karaoke jam session!

Activities include:

• Artist Trading Cards — Create your own collectible trading cards inspired by your favorite Pokémon and their unique artwork!

• Perler Bead Creations — Make a Pokémon-inspired character using colorful Perler beads! Create your own design and take it home with you.

• Create a Character — Use our creative supplies to create a completely new Pokémon-inspired character!

• The Animal Behind the Pokémon — Discover the amazing real-world animals and adaptations that inspired the abilities and moves of the Pokémon you know and love!

• Character-Karaoke — A Pokémon-inspired karaoke jam session!

Art Dice – Put your creativity to the test as you role dice to determine the colors, shapes, textures, and mediums that you’ll have to use to make your very own creation!

Dice Probability – Learn how rolling two dice and taking the higher number changes the probability of results compared to rolling just one die.

Dice Adventures – Use dice, and a little math, to see how likely an adventurer is to survive several different perilous situations.

Make your favorite gaming character using LEGO bricks and baseplates.

NATURE WORKS ANIMAL CHATS

Join us for our daily Animal Chats to learn more about our amazing animals!

Quest for the Sparkle Stone - Live-Action Role-Playing!

The Sparkle Stone has been stolen, and it's up to YOU to recover it safely! The evil Wizard Wizzlewick has taken it to Moonbeam Mountain, and you must journey through many magical obstacles to reach it. Are you an Alchemist who is resourceful yet overconfident? Or perhaps a Sorcerer with strong loyalty that can become easily distracted? Join us in Act Natural! where you can choose from these traits and more to create your very own Live-Action Role-Playing character and take the quest to Moonbeam Mountain. Adventure awaits!

The 76th Greater Kansas City Science & Engineering Fair takes place at Union Station from Wednesday, March 31 to Sunday, April 4, 2027.

Sponsored by MRIGlobal for over 70 years, the GKCSEF is a longstanding Kansas City tradition that inspires the next generation of innovators, celebrates student achievement, and connects young scientists with the STEM community and opportunities that help shape our region's future.

Students in grades 3-12 from public, private, parochial, charter and home schools in 15 counties in and around the KC metro area are eligible to participate in the GKCSEF.

The Fair is filled with exemplary projects developed by talented students, some of whom win a piece of the nearly $20,000 in awards, prizes and honors.

The 2027 GKCSEF is also open to all Kansas students who do not have an affiliated home Fair.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

All student and teacher registrations will be completed through the MySciFair platform.
