Meet Mel Violet of Siren Tarot, a KC-based artist originally from Los Angeles and one of the featured artists in the 2026 KC Fringe Visual Arts Exhibit! Mel weaves together myth, the occult, and dream symbols to tell stories of survival and resistance.

Her chosen subject? Sirens, representing the depths of emotion that rise to the surface during healing. Mel transformed these creations into the Siren of the Wilde Sí Tarot, a divination and magick tool for healing and self-discovery. In Celtic lore, the Sí are legendary sea creatures who dwell beyond the edge of the everyday world, said to call people toward a transformation that awakens their own Siren abilities.

Meet Julia Pope of Life and Death Designs, one of the featured artists in the 2026 KC Fringe Visual Arts Exhibit! Julia specializes in insect preservation and nature-inspired art, bringing together her love of hiking, foraging, learning, and getting her hands dirty.

Every piece is made from natural materials Julia forages on local trails. She carefully preserves her finds and pairs them with sustainably sourced, intricately pinned insects to create lifelike snapshots of natural habitats. Each element is chosen for its texture, color, and season, and holds the memory of a specific place and time.

As Julia puts it, her work is about "slowing down long enough to really see what most people step over."

Meet Susan Jackson, one of the talented artists in the 2026 KC Fringe Visual Arts Exhibit! Susan works in pyrography (wood burning), painting, and drawing, often blending them into mixed media pieces. Using wood as her canvas ties her nature-inspired imagery even closer to her technique.

Her greatest inspiration? Mother Nature herself. The calm of the ocean shore, the weightlessness of a butterfly's flutter, the feeling of time standing still beneath a canopy of trees.

These pieces are even more striking in person, so come see the texture and detail up close!
