Clarifications
In the interests of clearing up some of the confusion that may exist surrounding the Friends of the Opus 76 Quartet Foundation, please see the attached documents, which include:
* A letter from our attorney
* Two signed and notarized affidavits from our active Board Members
* A page from our 2024 990 filed in 2025 with the IRS, identifying who our Board Members are
Other than those listed on the 990, no other individuals have taken part in Board Activity or Foundation Activity for the past 2/3 years. There are no other representatives of this organization.
This includes Stefan Offenbach, and Janet Giesing - who is our Executive Director Keith Stanfield’s Mother-in-Law. Mr. Stanfield is currently in the process of divorcing her daughter.
Janet Giesing has consistently failed to disclose that she was Mr. Stanfield’s Mother-in-Law to existing Board Members as well as other third parties she has been dealing with whilst posing as an officer of the Foundation.
Her personal attorney has also been posing as an attorney “representing the Foundation.” This impostor’s activities are outlined in the attached letter. This individual contacted Mr. Stanfield on Friday evening via text message, circumventing his counsel, warning him not to show up to his next performance. Mr. Stanfield offered no response.
The following day, legal filings of an individual case Mr. Stanfield was pursuing for personal reasons were leaked to a collaborating organization’s meme page on Instagram, which posted the documents - containing Mr. Stanfield’s private address, phone number and email - captioning them with a racial commentary on Mr. Stanfield’s origin and background.
The collaborating organization is a former employer of Mr. Stanfield, and the meme page associated with it is supported by Board Members and current faculty of the organization, as well as Mr. Stanfield’s in-laws and their known associates.
The post was shared 20 times in its first five hours, and as of now, is still viewable on the Instagram meme page, which is called .almostsunday - where you can apparently "see YSKC members' TRUE thoughts."
As the letter and signed, notarized affidavits from our Board Members confirm - the administrational structure of the Friends of the Opus 76 Quartet remains unchanged. Mr. Stanfield has never been “terminated” in his role as Executive Director from 2019 to date.
The Kansas City Star did not contact Mr. Stanfield for any comment whatsoever regarding any matter it has recently written about. It was given these notarized affidavits by our Board - and yet it declined to mention their existence in its reporting. When prompted by our Board to contact Mr. Stanfield - it refused. One can only speculate as to why that might be.
Please disregard any communications concerning this organization from individuals not on that Board List or other attorneys.
If you have any questions, please direct them to [email protected], and they will be passed onto our Board for response. These documents are available as PDFs on our website, www.opus76.org
No further comment will be made on these issues for the time being.
