During our weekly KC 360 meetings, we often talk about youth, their families, their perspectives, and what they would actually like to see happen in Kansas City.
However, because the meetings happen during the school day, we don’t often get youth who are able to attend and share their experiences and perspectives, so we created Youth 360 to ask them.

Our second cohort started with an orientation retreat that included the curriculum’s first module, “Know Yourself” led by Youth 360 Co-facilitator, Dr. Ryan S. Harvey.

Our Community-Police Relations Subcommittee was established to foster trust between the community and the KCPD. This subcommittee welcomes police officers, community partners, and anyone interested in promoting cultural competency, restorative justice, and education on the criminal justice system for those navigating it.

Our Business 360 Subcommittee is for local business owners and employees who want to learn more about community safety.

Community safety drives a healthy workforce, stable local economies, and sustainable business growth. Not only does violence reduction boost economic health and talent retention, it also increases employee well-being and gives businesses an opportunity to uplift the city and citizens who keep them in business.

Our Youth Empowerment Subcommittee addresses obstacles to program participation and school attendance for young people, while also offering opportunities for conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies.

This subcommittee is for educators, parents, youth-serving organizations, and anyone interested in helping our kids live healthy, peaceful lives.

Kansas City’s AdHoc Group Against Crime opened its new Center for Healing & Justice this month.

The AdHoc Group Against Crime KC was formed in 1977 when a group of concerned and frustrated citizens came together to address the unsolved murders of nine Black women. Since then, AdHoc has been Kansas City’s primary provider of supportive services for those impacted by violence and homicide, and they now provide services to over 700 families annually who have experienced violence.

In addition to its existing services, the center now offers a free trauma-related injury clinic to help people who have been wounded by bullets or other weapons of violence.

Community Care 360, a KC 360 subcommittee, focuses on strengthening the role churches and faith leaders can play in supporting the communities they serve. Recently, the subcommittee hosted a luncheon for faith leaders serving our Village neighborhoods to explore how churches can meet residents where they are, respond to community needs, and serve as trusted resources for individuals and families.

The gathering featured insights from Johnny Waller, Alvin Brooks, and Pastor Cassandra Wainwright, followed by tabletop discussions that moved the conversation from ideas to action. Faith leaders identified practical ways to strengthen connections, coordinate resources, and work alongside KC 360 partners to better support neighborhoods and residents.

The luncheon reinforced a core principle of KC 360: safer, stronger neighborhoods are built when trusted community institutions work together and turn shared commitment into action.

In 2022, we selected the historic Santa Fe neighborhood as our first Village Initiative partner.

Since then, we have worked closely with the Santa Fe Area Council to identify and address neighborhood priorities, connect residents with resources, and elevate emerging needs to our KC 360 partners each week. Key crime indicators have continued to decline, reflecting meaningful progress in neighborhood safety and stability.

Recently, the Santa Fe Area Council has focused on strengthening neighborhood pride and connection through its annual beautification event. This year, 21 households participated, showcasing their commitment to caring for and celebrating their historic neighborhood. Every participant received gardening tools, plants, or gift cards to help continue their efforts in building on the momentum of a community that is becoming safer, stronger, and more connected.
