A doula walks with you before, during, and after childbirth. They help you shape a birth plan that reflects your wishes, support you through labor, advocate for you in the hospital, and stay close through postpartum recovery so you always feel heard.

Diapers are one of the biggest costs new parents face, and no public program covers them. Not WIC, not SNAP, not Medicaid. For many families, that gap forces impossible choices between diapers and other basics.

That is why we partner with HappyBottoms.org to help families keep their little ones clean, dry, and healthy.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, MO HealthNet will apply Community Engagement (work) requirements to certain adults ages 19 to 64 in the Adult Expansion Group. They will need at least 80 hours a month of work, school, or community service to keep coverage.

Pregnant women and people covered by MO HealthNet during the 12-month postpartum period are exempt from the Community Engagement Requirements. The requirements could matter after postpartum coverage ends if you are covered through the Adult Expansion Group and do not qualify for another exemption.

The Birth Equity Leadership Awards at Kauffman Foundation Conference Center will bring together digital art, birth stories, and messages rooted in birth equity.
The goal is not simply to host a beautiful event, though beauty will absolutely be part of it. The goal is to create an evening that feels thoughtful, honest, and worthy of the stories and experiences that inspired it.

It is also an evening of recognition for people and organizations helping push that work forward.

On Oct. 29, 2026, Altruism, Inc. will host the Birth Equity Leadership Awards at The Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, bringing art, birth stories, and unapologetic birth-equity messages into the same room.

The evening will confront obstetric racism, implicit bias, Black maternal mortality, racial disparities in infant mortality, and the systems that allow inequitable care and outcomes to continue.

We will also recognize people and organizations working to move birth equity from an idea into action.

We are building something thoughtful, honest, and unlike anything we have shared before.

Women’s experiences should help shape how pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care is delivered and improved. That means listening to what women say about the care they received, including who supported them, what caused harm, and how their birthing experience could have been better.
