When do you get eight oio to bite, much less bring in 3/4 of them on the flats? Ask ! Thad didn't stay out of the action. And to top things off, Thad got a manini to bite?!? Mahalo for remembering to tag some fish in all the chaos!

"Got lucky with a nice ‘ō‘io, a small ‘ōmilu and a snagged manini. What a morning for . I got to watch him go 6 for 10! Every time I looked up he was on an ‘ō‘io. My ‘ō‘io and pāpio were tagged and released, PIFG and A14578.

Thad Nakajima's been getting a lot of time on the flats. We can't keep up! Mahalo for the support!

Good morning session with and .win. Dino and I each went 1 for 2, losing both our first fish in an area with lots of coral heads. I had to cut off about 20m of braid that ran through some rocks. We were able to land our second ones in a less rocky area and Bobby got his on our walk in. Also got a decent sized weke. My ‘ō‘io was tagged and released, PIFG .

Thad Nakajima putting in the time and putting in the tags again this long weekend. Mahalo for the support!

"The plan was to do some sunset plugging this weekend but the weather was not looking good yesterday so and I went to the flats this morning instead. It was cold and windy with intermittent showers so the wading jacket was a must. The strong winds allowed us to get some distance on our casts though. Dino went 1 for 2 and I went 1 for 1. My ‘ō‘io was tagged and released, PIFG tag .

"Good fun on the flats this morning with .win who went 1 for 3, losing a good one to a bent hook. I went 2 for 2. Nothing big today but I did tag the bigger of my two ‘ō‘io. PIFG tag .

"After not finding any time to fish in 2026, I finally got a chance this chilly morning with .win and and landed my first fish. Got lucky with a nice sized ‘ō‘io that came in at 7lbs on the Boga. I saw this one tailing with a partner on a shallow reef edge next to a deep channel. Luckily when it hit, it took off onto the shallow flats rather than down into the channel to cut me off on the edge. Also got to test the Zenaq Inqlude Master Hand on a bigger fish and the rod had a really nice backbone for a rod that can cast the 1/8 oz jighead so well. Tagged with a healthy release, PIFG tag .

Thad Nakajima squeezing in one more before the end of 2025

Thanks for the effort, Thad! Much appreciated! We know it's a handful. When we asked if ok to use for Tag It, Thad replied:

"Short solo session on the flats and last of 2025. I didn’t think I’d get back out before the end of the year but I found some time this afternoon. Also got another chance to try and bless the Zenaq Inqlude with an ‘ō‘io and got lucky with a small one. Tagged and released PIFG tag .

I enjoy tagging them. I’ve slowly gotten used to tagging and measuring the fish while in the water. Something I used to avoid on the flats."

A tagged omilu was recovered by Chaz Tom on 11/29/2025. approx. 11.75" off of Turtle Bay. It was originally tagged by Kevin Mita on 10/13/2025, 11.75" fl. in the same area. It was a short term recovery 47 days at liberty with travel of less than a mile and no growth. (Chaz had an approximate length of 11" fork length measurement as he may not have been carrying a tape measure. Although Chaz re-released this omilu, it would have been good to get accurate measurements).
