Mahalo to everyone who took the time to learn, ask questions, and invest in their brain health and well-being. 🌺

🛟💙 It’s Lifeguard & Swim Instructor Appreciation Day! 💙🛟

Today we’re celebrating the incredible lifeguards and swim instructors who keep Windward YMCA safe, strong, and full of confidence-building moments!

They do more than just watch the water — they:
💙 Teach our keiki to float, swim, and believe in themselves
💙 Respond calmly in emergencies
💙 Encourage every small victory
💙 Show up with focus, aloha, and a whole lot of heart

Whether they’re guarding the pool, leading swim lessons, or helping keiki conquer their fear of water — they play a vital role in our YMCA ʻohana.

👏 Join us in giving a big MAHALO to our aquatics staff for all they do to keep Windward YMCA safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone!

✨💛 A Bright Finish to Summer Day Camp! 💛✨

Friday night's Bright Futures Family Night was a wonderful celebration of our Summer Day Camp keiki and their families!

Dressed in white and gold, our campers took the stage with themed performances that showcased their creativity and confidence. Families also enjoyed crafts, a bounce house, concessions, and a fun evening of connection and community.

Mahalo to our campers, families, staff, and volunteers for making this summer so special. Thank you for being part of our Windward YMCA ʻohana and helping create memories that will last long after camp has ended.

We can't wait to see you at the Y again soon! 🌺

🧠❤️ Retrain Your Brain: Another Great Nutrition Workshop! ❤️🧠

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday for our third FREE nutrition workshop, Retrain Your Brain! We were excited to welcome 25 participants for an engaging discussion filled with thoughtful questions and practical tips to support both brain and heart health. 💙

This month's workshop focused on added sugar—where it's found, how to read nutrition labels, and how small changes can make a big difference.

One memorable takeaway was this simple tip:

🥄 To estimate teaspoons of added sugar, divide the grams of sugar by 4.

For example:
➡️ 40 grams of added sugar ÷ 4 = 10 teaspoons of sugar

It's an easy way to visualize just how much added sugar may be hiding in everyday foods!

Participants also took home brain-healthy lifestyle tips, including:
💙 Get regular exercise
😴 Prioritize quality sleep
🧩 Keep your brain active by learning something new
🤝 Stay connected with family, friends, and your community
❤️ Make time for laughter and new experiences

At the Windward YMCA, we're committed to helping our community build healthy habits that support lifelong wellness—for the mind, body, and spirit.

Mahalo to everyone who joined us! We look forward to seeing you at our next seminar in August. 🌺

🥾 Making Memories, One Hike at a Time

Last weekend, our Windward YMCA Adventure Guides families enjoyed a beautiful hike along the Makapuʻu Lighthouse Trail, soaking in gorgeous weather and breathtaking views. Along the way, the kids looked forward to reaching each rest stop, where they learned a little local history before continuing the climb.

One family shared that they reached the top quicker than expected because everyone kept a great pace! 💙

Even more meaningful, the family reflected that every time they hike this trail, their children become a little more confident and independent. The trail has become a special "timestamp" of their growth—a reminder of how much they've learned and accomplished together over the years.

That's what Adventure Guides is all about.

Adventure Guides is a year-round program that launches parents and their children on a journey of discovery—with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide. Through outdoor adventures and shared experiences, families build stronger connections and create lasting memories. 🌺
