“Just jump right in… you need to have that love and that passion for music.” 🎤✨

Students at Waimānalo Intermediate had the opportunity to hear from local musician , from Waimānalo, as he shared his journey and what it really takes to pursue a career in music. He was grateful for the opportunity to give back and connect with students from his community.

Beyond performing, he also highlighted the many careers that support the industry, from sound technicians to marketing teams, showing students that there are so many ways to be part of the music world.

Moments like this are what career-connected learning is all about. Giving students direct access to industry professionals, especially those connected to their community, helps them see what’s possible and start imagining their own future paths.

Mahalo to Waimānalo Elementary & Intermediate School and our community partners for helping make these experiences possible for our keiki 💚

It’s National School Nurses Day 💙

Today we celebrate the incredible school nurses who care for our keiki every single day. From supporting student health to being a trusted, calming presence on campus, your impact goes far beyond the health room.

A special mahalo to our nurses for your continued partnership and for supporting career-connected learning experiences. Through your work, students not only feel cared for, but also inspired to explore careers in healthcare.

To all school nurses, thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the heart you bring to your schools. You truly make a difference in the lives of so many students and families.

Happy Earth Day 🌎💚

We had the opportunity to learn from Farmer Dave Burlew of Local Hawaiian Produce, who shared what it really means to grow food right here in Hawaiʻi 🌱

Students explored the difference between locally grown and imported foods, from how far products travel to reach our islands to why fresh, local produce matters for our community and environment. Through his stories and real-life experiences, Farmer Dave helped students see how supporting local farmers helps reduce waste, protect our ʻāina, and strengthen Hawaiʻi’s future.

Mahalo to ʻAikahi Elementary’s 2nd grade teachers, Ms. Liane Ono and Ms. Kathleen Range, for allowing Hawaii Workforce Pipeline to partner with you on such an amazing career-connected learning experience. The curiosity and excitement from the students made it even more meaningful 💛

Full circle moment 💛

Kamaka Pili visited his alma mater, Enchanted Lake Elementary, to spend time with the kindergartners and talk story about his journey as a weather anchor at KHON2 News.

From sharing what it’s like tracking Hawaii’s ever-changing weather to breaking down past Kona Low storms, he kept it real, relatable, and full of local knowledge. The students were all in, asking questions, making connections, and learning how weather impacts our everyday lives here at home 🌦️

Also, a huge mahalo to our educator partners, Mrs. Gaspar and Mrs. Del Aragon for allowing Hawaii Workforce Pipeline to be part of enriching their students’ PBL experience.

There’s something special about coming back to your roots and pouring into the next generation. Mahalo for inspiring our keiki and showing them what’s possible right here in Hawaii.

Real talk, real stories, real impact 💯

Big mahalo to Chef John McGough for spending time with the students at Olomana HYCF and sharing his journey in the culinary world. From lessons learned to words of encouragement, he reminded our youth that their past doesn’t define their future and that there are real opportunities waiting for them if they stay focused and keep pushing forward.

Moments like this matter. Exposure, connection, and hearing directly from industry professionals can spark something life changing.

This experience wouldn’t be possible without the strong partnership and dedication from Scott Laboy, along with the incredible staff and facility at Olomana HYCF. We are grateful to work alongside people who truly show up for our youth every single day.

Waimānalo Elementary’s second grade students took their learning beyond the textbook with a special visit from Jaime Miller of the Oʻahu Invasive Species Committee.

Her visit was a powerful extension of their project-based learning unit on invasive species, giving students the chance to connect classroom lessons to real work happening in our community.

Mahalo to Ms. Patterson and Ms. Marchese for creating space for partnerships like this and for always putting meaningful learning first.

This is how curiosity grows and career awareness begins 🌱
