Halfway through 2026, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge the community that makes this work possible.

This association exists to stand behind our members and the families connected to them. Whether the day brings good news or hard news, our job is to be there. That has not changed in six months. It will not change in the next six.

The second half of the year typically brings the highest demand for everything we do. We are ready for it, and we are grateful for the community standing with us going in.

82 years ago today, more than 156,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel and stormed five beaches along the coast of Normandy, France. By the end of June 6, 1944, over 4,400 of them had given their lives. The largest amphibious invasion in human history changed the trajectory of World War II and, with it, the world.

Many members of this association are veterans. Many have parents and grandparents who served. The legacy of the men who landed at Normandy lives in the people who wear a uniform today, regardless of which one it is.

Today, this association honors them. Their courage was the cost of the freedoms we still defend every shift.

Share this post in honor of the men who gave everything on June 6, 1944.

Memorial Day is a day with one purpose. To remember.

General John A. Logan issued the proclamation establishing Decoration Day in 1868, and after World War I it was expanded from honoring Civil War casualties to honoring the American military fallen from every conflict. In 1971, Congress officially declared it a federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May. A tradition that began with flowers on graves is now observed by more than 330 million Americans each year.

Our personnel are out across the community today maintaining security so that every cemetery visit, every memorial service, and every family gathering can happen without incident. They show up on days like this because that is what this profession asks of them.

Comment below with the name of a fallen service member you are honoring today.

Peace Officer Memorial Day is observed today across the country. Flags fly at half-staff, and they should.

President Kennedy signed the law establishing this observance in 1962. Since then, more than 22,000 names have been added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., representing every line of duty death in American history. Each name belongs to someone who left behind a family that had to keep going without them.

The risk these professionals accept is real. The support we provide their families needs to be real too.

Today is Children of Fallen Patriots Day, and it is one of the more sobering dates on the calendar.

May 13 was chosen for this observance because it marks the day Arlington National Cemetery was established in 1864. That connection is intentional. The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation estimates that approximately 25,000 children have lost a parent in the line of military duty over the last 35 years. Without support, only 20 percent of those children complete college. With the foundation's assistance, that rate rises to 91 percent.

These are children who carried a loss most people their age could not begin to understand. Many members of this association are veterans. We do not take this day lightly.

Share this post to bring visibility to the children and families still carrying the cost of military service.

This is National Police Week, and we want to make sure it means more than a hashtag.

National Police Week 2026 runs from May 11 through May 17, featuring memorial ceremonies, survivor-focused events, honor guard tributes, and community gatherings across Washington D.C

The professionals our association represents are the people who answer the call when you cannot. They miss birthdays, holidays, and milestones because the job does not stop for any of it. The ones we are honoring this week did not get to come home, and the families they left behind carry that every single day.

This week is for them. It is also for every member out on shift right now who continues their work.

If you have a first responder in your life, tell them this week you see what they do.

Share this post and help us make sure National Police Week reaches every community that needs to hear it.

Happy Mother's Day to every mother in our community and in our ranks.

The holiday has been with us longer than most people realize. In 1908, Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in Grafton, West Virginia, and the idea spread so quickly that by 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation making it a national holiday. Today, Mother's Day is one of the highest-grossing retail holidays in the United States, generating over 35 billion dollars in spending annually according to the National Retail Federation.

The mothers in our ranks show up for this community every shift. The mothers at home supporting our members carry just as much. Both deserve more than one day of recognition. But today, we make sure they get it.

Share this post and tag a mother who deserves to be recognized today.

Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day to every husband and wife holding down the home front.

The numbers tell part of the story. There are approximately one million active duty and reserve military spouses in this country managing households, careers, and families alongside the reality of deployment. Studies show that military spouses relocate on average every two to three years, making career stability one of the most persistent challenges they face.

Members of this association who serve in reserve components rely on that support every single day. Their spouses deserve the same recognition we give to the members themselves.

Tag a military spouse in the comments today so we can acknowledge them directly.

In Dec of 2024, our very own Deputy Monteiro was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Deputy Monteiro has literally been fighting for his life ever since. In fact, he has fought hard enough to be able to return to FULL DUTY!
In Jan, 2026, Deputy Monteiro was honored by the Portland Winterhawks as a hometown hero.

Cinco de Mayo is observed today, and our members are on duty making sure the community can celebrate safely.

The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. What most people do not know is that the French at the time were considered one of the most powerful military forces in the world. The victory was a major upset that changed the course of the conflict. Today it is one of the most widely celebrated cultural observances in the United States.

We are proud to serve a community as diverse and vibrant as this one.

Drop a comment below and tell us how you are celebrating today.
