LULAC Oregon thanks Senator Christine Drazan and Senator Suzanne Weber for refusing to look away. They met with Oregonian parents, heard their stories, and directed the Judicial Department to answer for it.

To every parent who came forward: your courage is changing what happens to future oregonian families. We will keep counting days until the law means what it says.

Dear Community Leaders,

A possible government shutdown is coming down to one clear choice: whether Congress will keep writing blank checks for unchecked immigration enforcement.
We are saying this plainly and directly: Not another penny, not another dime for DHS unless there are firm limits, real oversight, and real accountability. Congress must protect our communities—not fund harm.
This is the moment when constituent pressure matters most. Senators count calls. Staff log every message. When the phones light up, lawmakers move.
Call the U.S. Senate Switchboard and Demand Accountability
☎️ 202-224-3121
Ask to be connected to your U.S. Senators. Call both senators.
(If you reach voicemail, leave a message—those are counted and recorded.)
How to make your call in 60 seconds
Dial ☎️: 202-224-3121
1 Say: “Please connect me to Senator [Last Name].”
2 When connected: give your name + city (and ZIP if asked).
3 Deliver the message below. Keep it clear and firm.
4 Hang up and call your other Senator right away.
What to say (voicemail or staff)
My name is ___, I’m a constituent from ___, and I urge you to oppose any ICE or DHS funding that lacks real oversight and protections. Congress must protect our communities, not fund harm. Thank you.
Optional add-on (if you have another 10 seconds)
• “Will the Senator commit to voting NO on any DHS/ICE funding package without enforceable oversight and accountability?”
• “Please record my position and let me know the Senator’s stance.”
After you call
• Forward this email to five friends or family members and ask them to call too.
• Post the number ☎️ (202-224-3121) in a group chat.
• Encourage others to identify themselves as constituents and call both Senators.
Every call is logged. Volume matters. Pressure works.

In Solidarity,
LULAC

📢 COMPARTE. INVITA. PARTICIPA.

Calling out the impacts of federal immigration enforcement actions within the Hillsboro community, the Hillsboro City Council has declared a State of Emergency.

The Council unanimously adopted the resolution declaring the emergency during its meeting on November 18, while directing the City to take more actions to address the impacts of immigration enforcement in Hillsboro.

The Council’s emergency declaration condemns U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers’ reported and alleged conduct infringing on the constitutional rights of members of the Hillsboro community, including:

▪️ arresting and detaining individuals without affording due process rights.

▪️ refusing to share information about the reason for an individual’s arrest or the location where an individual will be detained.

▪️ routinely wearing masks and refusing to provide identification

▪️ questioning residents and visitors about their immigration status based on their race, ethnicity, language, accent, occupation, or presence at certain locations such as day-labor sites, bus stops, car washes, and parking lots.

Next week, the Council will convene in a special work session to discuss immigration response options on Monday, November 24, at 6:30 pm inside the Hillsboro Civic Center, Room 113 B&C. The special work session will be held in person and online via Zoom.

“The unnecessary and likely unlawful tactics being used by many federal immigration enforcement authorities have generated widespread fear in the community, which cause our residents to be fearful of leaving their homes to go to work, school, access City services, take public transportation, attend medical appointments, and other necessary daily activities, and as a result children are denied access to public education, individuals are prevented from seeking necessary healthcare, local businesses are negatively impacted, and residents are discouraged from working with law enforcement agents to report, solve and prevent minor and serious crime,” the City Council resolution declared.

“No matter when someone has joined our community or where they have come from, every person deserves to be free of fear and intimidation and to be treated with dignity and respect.”
