The Boxes of Love Project

The Boxes of Love Project It is our mission to ensure that babies & children entering foster care from local children's hospitals have a box of new clothing to call their own.

Most of you know that we recently adopted our son after a two year journey through the foster care system. This experience made me realize that I need, and want, to do something to help the babies and children who are currently in foster care. That is where the idea for The Boxes of Love Project came from

Hundreds of babies and children enter the foster care system each day. Most of them enter w

ith nothing to call their own. No clothes, blankets, stuffed animals or books. The thought of this breaks my heart. I want these children to know that they are loved, that they are special and that they matter. I have decided to make it my mission to ensure that every baby and child entering the foster care system at Randall Children's Hospital receives a large box full of new clothing and other items (see list below) to call their own....A Box of Love. Each box is topped off with a copy of the book Guess How Much I Love You and a note from me. Each box is valued at approximately $500, so you can definitely see why I need community support to keep it running! There are number of things you can do. Please consider donating new baby and children's clothing, new shoes, new underwear and socks, toiletries, hair accessories, new fun towels and washcloths, new baby blankets, new stuffed animals, small baby toys/pacifiers/rattles, etc, books, stickers, coloring crayons, coloring books and small toys. You can also donate Sterilite 66 quart clear plastic bins with latching handles, small duffle bags and backpacks. You can donate gift cards to Target, Carter's, Kohl's, Old Navy and Fred Meyer. These gift cards are used to purchase items for the boxes that I may not have on hand. They are also used to purchase specific items that children may need or want. You can also always make a monetary donation! You can find a link to the PayPal account on the page for credit card donations. Checks can be mailed to:

Boxes of Love
PO Box 702
Troutdale, OR 97060

There is also an Amazon Wishlist that has items which can be purchased for the boxes. https://smile.amazon.com/hz/charitylist/ls/2AE4S0UGINQ6S/ref=smi_ext_lnk_lcl_cl

Finally, you can spread the word to your family and friends! The more people that know about, and support, the project, the more children we are able to help!! Thank you for visiting the page and for supporting The Boxes of Love Project!

🫶📦🧸 We love seeing our community show up for children entering foster care, and one of the most special reminders is that you are never “too young” to make a difference.

Lyndsee’s niece, Lily, recently spent time helping restock infant toys and unboxing all the amazing donations that were mailed in. From organizing shelves to opening each thoughtful package, she brought so much energy and joy into the process.

Every box we pack takes a community, and seeing younger members of our community step in with willing hearts means so much to us. Her time, care, and excitement are helping bring comfort, dignity, and love to children during incredibly vulnerable moments.

We truly believe that when people of all ages come together to care for one another, our community becomes stronger. And Lily is such a beautiful example of that. 💛

Not everyone is able or wants to become a foster parent, and the truth is, fostering can be incredibly hard.

Foster families often step into moments of crisis with very little time to prepare. Many are navigating emotional transitions, emergency placements, court appointments, school changes, and the day-to-day realities of helping a child feel safe and supported.

And while foster parents show up with open hearts, the support they receive can often be limited. That’s why community support matters so much.

When you volunteer, donate, host a drive, or fundraise, you help lighten the load for foster families and help children entering care feel seen, valued, and loved.

You may not be able to foster, but you can still be part of the village that cares for these children and families.

Want to get involved? We’d love to have you. 🎁🔗 https://www.boxesofloveproject.org/

Every month, children enter foster care with little to nothing of their own.

And every month, Boxes of Love works to make sure they are met with comfort, care, and dignity instead. 💛

When you become a monthly donor, you help us consistently provide brand-new clothing, shoes, pajamas, books, hygiene products, and comfort items for children entering care. Each box we curate costs $500+ to create with brand-new, high-quality items.

Monthly giving helps us plan ahead, respond quickly, and continue saying “yes” when the need arises.

No amount is too small. Every monthly gift becomes part of something bigger, a community choosing to show up for children during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

For some newborns, their very first transition home is not with their biological family, but into foster care.

Last year alone, Boxes of Love provided 87 boxes to local hospitals, and every single one was for a baby or newborn entering care.

These first moments matter. A soft blanket. A properly fitting sleeper. A bottle. A pacifier. Tiny essentials chosen with care and packed with love.

Because even the smallest children deserve comfort, dignity, and the reminder that they are deeply valued from the very beginning.

Every box is more than a collection of items. It’s a way of saying: you are loved. 💛

Infant toys might seem small, but for babies entering foster care, they can make a huge difference. 💛🧸👶🏻

Infant boxes are among our most requested age groups, and we include toys such as rattles, teethers, stacking cups, sensory toys, and soft comfort items in every infant Box of Love.

Right now, infant toys are our most needed item of the month, and we need help restocking for the babies entering care in our community.

You can help by:
🧸 Donating new infant toys from any of your preferred stores
🛒 Shopping our selection of infant toys on our Target or Amazon wishlists (🔗 https://www.boxesofloveproject.org/donate)
📬 Mailing to: PO Box 702, Troutdale, OR 97060
📍 Dropping off at any of our local donation sites

Every toy given reminds a baby, and the foster family caring for them, that they are supported and not alone.

At first glance, it may just look like a Sterilite bin filled with clothes, books, and essentials.

But to a child entering foster care… it means so much more.

Every box starts with a foundation of brand-new essentials for children ages 0–18 — clothing, pajamas, shoes, toiletries, comfort items, and more. These are the items we include in every box to make sure each child has what they need from day one.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Whenever possible, we go beyond the basics to include the things that make a box feel extra personal — favorite colors, beloved characters, and special request items like bikes, scooters, toys, and accessories.

Because this isn’t just about meeting needs. It’s about creating something that feels like it was made just for them. Every box is packed with intention, care, and a message they’ll never forget: you are seen, you are valued, and you are loved.
