Emma from Kenya shared a piece of her Memory Book Club experience: "My wish is to return to MBC as a facilitator, helping younger students find their voices just as I found mine.

"My passion for public relations stems from this truth: every person’s story deserves to be heard, with dignity and
clarity."

Why do we include time for creative activities into Memory Book Clubs? Crafts, artwork, playing musical instruments, and dancing help children, teens, and adults to express what it is they are feeling without immediately going to the painful words that define the trauma and grief they have experienced, but can help create new ‘brain pathways’ of expression.

Memory Books first Global Conference in Rwanda. Enriching, shared stories and experiences, excitement for the future, relationships formed and renewed, learning together. Worshipping God together. Thankful for everyone who prayed, participated, and shared their expertise, gifts and resources to make this experience a reality.

“You see, it is God who we can trust to heal broken hearts. He simply asks we be a witness to the brokenhearted and their stories. When we are willing to share a burden of grief with someone by listening with compassion, we will see God perform the miracle of healing before our eyes.” Tamara Faris, founder of Memory Books.

Whether an orphaned child or a grieving child trapped inside an adult body, research shows Memory Books are a valuable tool to re-establish a sense of identity, enjoy meaningful relationships with others, and reveal hopes and dreams for a future with purpose after suffering loss and grief. Thank you, Memory Book facilitators and leaders who tirelessly listen and allow those in grief to share their stories and affirm to them: I Am Somebody.

A fabulous report in pictures & words from Memory Book Club leaders Judith/Josiah: “The children had a wonderful time of learning together, sharing their experiences, praying together, eating together in April 2022….Please pray for us to have hall/dining/resource center where children can enjoy having their meetings. At the moment, when it is raining or heat is strong, it becomes so hard to learn together.” (Please join us in praying for Memory Book Club leaders & children, as well as them being able to get improved facility resources.)

Our Memory Book Journal has been redesigned with new page layouts, more space for drawing or writing, and a more durable spiral binding. Pray for the printing process to be completed soon, so we can get these Memory Boojks in the hands of children!

"I raise my unlimited thanks to all of our Memory Books Club friends/partners for their involvement and commitment to see MBC continue to impact more and more around this refugee community."

The basins in some of the photos were purchased to help with hygiene during Memory Book Clubs. Thankful for the adult leaders who support and teach these children!

Letter from Hannah in Uganda:
It is with great joy that we write to you about the impact of Memory Book Club in Uganda. Thank you for your great generosity! We, at Good Samaritan Ministries, greatly appreciate your donation, and your sacrifice. Your support helps to further the love of Jesus Christ through children, youth, teachers, Sunday school teachers, care takers, parents, guardians and leaders.
Your continued support for Memory Book is deeply gratifying and life changing for the children of this country. We have seen hope restored, love shared, lives transformed in cancer homes, orphanages, slums and schools. We are starting work with children in refugee camps this year. Your prayer and support will impact generations. Together we are making a difference!

Hannah from Uganda writes: “Memory Books for Children partnered with Bless A Child Foundation (BCF) to set up Memory Book Clubs in their homes and also offer training to their child care givers. This organization takes care of children that have cancer. They do this by providing shelter, medication, feeding, in 2 locations. Through this project the children have grown to love the Club so much that they keep looking forward to their weekly meeting. It is a blessing that through this club we are able to provide hope and love and help these children preserve and tell their stories. Every child loves and treasures their Memory Book and enjoy each and every session.”
