Thank you, Beverly Alexander Jacobson ,
After coming through a time of difficulty ,and fearful distractions, ,I woke up this morning thinking about the time. My husband was teaching me how to mow a straight line with our riding mower.
The mower was brand new, just purchased from Western Auto and I wanted to try it out, so I climbed onto the mower, settled myself in the seat and listened to my husband’s instructions.
First, I had to adjust the gears.. the speed of the mower, and then lower the blades to make contact with the grass at the predetermined level. .. then I took off. He let me make a couple of rounds in the yard and stopped me.
Anything Wes ever did, he aimed for perfection. and having a well manicured lawn was something he enjoyed achieving.
Well, let me tell you, my rows of mowing were far less than perfect. They were extremely wobbly, and had I continued to follow the pattern I had set, we would have had a terrible looking yard.
I listened carefully as he explained that if I looked directly in front of the mower as I moved ahead, I would never be able to mow a straight line,
but instead, I should lift my head and focus on one spot at the end of the row. the place I wanted to end up . Keep my eyes on that one spot and the mower would take me there. leaving a beautiful straight swath through the grass .. it would be a pattern, that if I followed those instructions, my grass, my lawn would show perfection, not only for my own enjoyment, but for all those who lived about me as well.
Of course, God uses all the events of my life as teaching tools to help me apply scripture to my situation, helping me to understand his Words by placing a real life example (pattern ) right in front of me, HIS pattern choices are perfect . When we follow them, we can be assured of a perfect (expected ) outcome.
So here is my scripture for this particular (Beverly parable.)
Phil 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended: but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead
14 I press toward the goal, for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Jesus reminds me of all of this to help me keep my eyes focused on where I am going, and not on the things that are happening in my(right now) things that are right in front of me.
God helps me to refocus my eyes and press toward the prize … toward the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Lord, I pray even as Paul did, that you would cause my life to be an example, a pattern for not only those who live in close proximity to my life, but also to those who live afar . Those to whom my territory has been increased to include.
I know that it is to my benefit to tell my story and give testimony of our father’s faithfulness in our lives , for we are made Overcomers by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.
Where is your testimony?
I hope you are pressing on and keeping your eyes focused on the goal.
I love you all ♥️🙏
