Last month, September bride Trisha donated her fabulous fall flowers and on a cozy autumn day, we made 34 bouquets to brighten the day for sweet seniors at Brookfield Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia 🌻😊💖♻️

Ever since the KGW news story came out, I have been scrambling to get back to so many of you wonderful folks wanting to volunteer and to know more about The Happy Daffodil. I was in the air when it aired last week, flying home to spend two weeks with my kids and grand☀️s, and to throw a school anniversary celebration for over 300. So please be patient with me regarding correspondence. Part of knowing me is knowing that I have out-of-state kiddos and grandkids whom I visit every other month and drop everything for. I have lived a pretty amazing and very fulfilling life, but nothing will ever top being their Mimi 🩵🩵💖

I am so grateful to have The Happy Daffodil featured on the news!

What started as a simple idea has blossomed into a community of volunteers giving flowers a second life. We collect donated flowers from weddings, events, and other occasions, rearrange them into beautiful bouquets, and deliver them to cancer patients, hospice patients, and seniors in local care facilities to brighten their days. 💐

Every bouquet is a little reminder that someone is thinking of them.

I have been told I need to introduce myself. So, hi there!! I’m so happy you’re here! I’m Julieann Parker (most people call me Jules), the founder of The Happy Daffodil. My mission is to make people who might otherwise be overlooked feel seen, to provide some sunshine by way of flowers for those in need of it, and to create community by involving local flower farmers and volunteers to help me spread joy and share hope one bouquet at a time 😊💐💖♻️🪩

I save the pink vases I get for our deliveries to Legacy Salmon Creek Breast Health Center. Nisa, one of my dear volunteers, works there and brings them on the breast cancer survivorship surveillance clinic day 🎀 Our bright, cheerful bouquets are shared with these courageous women to celebrate the joy of good news or offer a little comfort when the news is difficult. Whether it’s a moment of celebration or a moment when someone just needs to be surrounded by love, we hope each bouquet is a gentle reminder that they are seen, supported, and never alone 😊💐💖♻️

Ever since I found out there was a local grief support group, it has been on my radar and on my heart, but I don’t typically receive donations on the day they meet. Volunteer Beth's Blossoms stepped up and brought flowers from her garden, I wrote notes of encouragement on cards donated by Kathryn Garcia-Stackpole, and Lori O'Keath Lindberg delivered them to this lovely group of widows. It felt wonderful to give them a hug by way of an unexpected bouquet 😊💐💖♻️
(I’m wearing red and purple, tutu not showing, because I subbed at the local middle school and it was color wars/Spirit Week 😉

On a beautiful fall day, this wonderful crew made 65 bouquets, one for each resident of White Oak Village Memory Care. Rayann Box, the sweet bride, asked that they go to memory care in honor of her grandmother who is currently living with dementia 🥹 There are so many lovely ways to honor those we love 😊💐💖♻️

With floral donations from four sources: Flora & fauna farms, brides KC, Vanessa Tav, as well as some beauties from volunteer Beth’s garden, we made 59 bouquets, some wildly bright and some dreamy pink, to share with seniors. Bride Kasey Parker dropped off her flowers and stayed to help make bouquets, and Gus and his mom Michele, a volunteer, helped deliver them to Vancouver Specialty and Rehabilitative Care. How wonderful is that?! 😊💐💖♻️

On Monday I received an email from a gentleman asking if he could donate the flowers from his wife’s memorial service. I dropped what I was doing, met him halfway, and brought home a lovely but random assortment of flowers. Fourteen bouquets came of it, from Carol’s husband wanting to share their beauty on her behalf 🥹I delivered them to a local memory care facility where they were enjoyed by the residents 😊💐💖♻️
