This Saturday from 9-1, the Battle Ground Rotary Club will be washing windows, sidewalks at Battle Ground HealthCare. We will also be updating the corner of SR503/Eaton for the fall/winter, spreading bark donated by Bark Ranch Landscape Supply and planting fall flowers/decorative kale. We would LOVE to have community help! Bring your planting and gardening tools, wheelbarrows, rags and squeegies, great attitude, and join us. Many hands make light work!

Last night, the Battle Ground Rotary club had the pleasure of hearing from our chief of police Dennis Flynn. Chief Dennis gave an impassioned, informative, fact based presentation about the last three years as chief of police for our city and the amazing men and women on our police force. His approach to policing is one of service, fun, reward, but at the same time , clearly and firmly constitutionally based and data-based law enforcement. His experiences in Las Vegas and Colorado have brought a new culture to the Battle Ground police force.

This week, October 7, our Battle Ground Rotary Social is a Potluck at Galeotti’s! Bring your favorite food or drink to share. Jami Asay is going to talk to us about the Fundraising Committee opportunities we have coming up. For anyone in the community, come and listen to why we need to raise money because of the things we do in the community that need money. We’d love new fresh ideas! Social time starts between five and 5:15 and the meeting is over by 6:30 usually.

Last week, we heard from Battle Ground Senior Citizens, Inc. President, Sharon Wodtke, and Board Advisor Lori Lindberg. Sharon and Lori brought their Board to play a game with us so we could learn all about BGSC and everything they do for seniors in our community. It was a very fun evening. BGRC is super excited to hear from Battle Ground Senior Citizens, Inc. President Sharon Wodtke and board advisor Lori Lindberg. Battle Ground Senior citizens is a force to be reckoned with in the Battle Ground community and we are delighted to be a supporter of all of the work that they do to support our seniors.
Join us at Galeotti’s on Wednesday evening for social time after 5 and the meeting begins at 5:30 to 6:30.

If you missed our meeting last week, you missed an excellent speaker, Kiah Johnson-Mounsey, founder and executive Director of All Comers FC (www.all comers.org). As an educator, athlete and parent, she believes movement is one of the most powerful ways to build connection confidence belonging. The mission of All Comers Family Center is to address a clear gap in youth, recreation, making an accessible inclusive with spaces for all children to participate. All Comers is designed to remove those barriers by creating sensory aware spaces inclusive programming in a welcoming environment.

On Friday afternoon, the Battle Ground Rotary donated school supplies to BGEF and FCRC, for elementary, middle and high schoolers, including all of the necessary flies on the listing, including backpacks and calculators, to be distributed to students who need them. Proud to serve our school district!

Today the BGRC planted two flowering cherry trees in Florence Robison Park South in memory or two club members, Mike Simpson and Ron Scheurer. Thank you City of BG for facilitating this. They will be gorgeous in the spring!!!
At our meeting tonight at Galliotti’s on Main, we’ll hear from Shannon Corbin and Melissa from Educational Explorer’s Fund regarding the BGSD middle school students’ planned civic trip to Washington DC in the spring.
