Stickers joined us in the summer of 2019 and hasn't stopped singing since. His favorite camper memory is screaming camp songs on the bus, which honestly tracks. He looked up to the older girls at camp and wanted to be the kind of PA who gave younger campers the same love of badges and belonging that he found here. What keeps him coming back? The sisterhood. He loves being surrounded by people who aren't afraid to be ridiculous and have fun. And if you've met Stickers, you know he holds up his end of that bargain. This year he's most excited about the campers, and has requested we mention that he is, in his own words, "super cool and funny and awesome and great." We're inclined to agree. We can't wait to see you at Camp Julianna, Stickers! We’re dusting off our songbooks. Have you registered yet? www.campjulianna.org

While Camp Julianna is no longer held at Lewisville Park, so many Girl Scout memories were created in those spaces. We are saddened by the news of the fire there this morning. Our hearts go out to the park and the community it serves. We hope the space can be restored and reopened for all who love it.

TBD started at Camp J in 2016 as a Brownie and fell in love with the kind of magic that only happens here. Her PAs always made camp so much fun, like telling the story that there were trolls living under the bridges, so you had to stomp whenever you crossed them. She couldn’t wait to become one herself and spin camp lore for other Girl Scouts. She’s most excited about singing with you, and her favorite herkimer challenge - the water bucket challenge. We hope you’re excited to see TBD at camp this year. The magic is waiting. Prices increase on Saturday. Have you registered yet? www.campjulianna.org

It's Senior Sunday, and we have a LOT of Senior PAs this year! This week, we celebrate Butterfly!

How would you like to go to a camp that shares its name with you? Butterfly has been doing just that since 2017, collecting patches embroidered with her name on them! Having her older sister as a PA while she was a camper inspired her to become a PA while her younger sister was a camper. She'll be graduating as that younger sister starts her PA journey, continuing their sisterly tradition at camp. She looks forward to watching the campers enjoy their time, and making memories to carry her to her next chapter. Want to make memories with Butterfly in her last year of Julianna? ✨ Spotlight: PA Wranglers ✨
The people behind Camp J’s teen leadership magic.

At Camp J, PAs (Program Aides) are the teenagers who lead most of the activities. They’re not just helpers—they’re planners, leaders, role models, and problem-solvers in real time. And that kind of leadership doesn’t happen by accident.

That’s where our PA Wranglers come in.

PA Wrangling is one of the most complex roles on our core team. It’s part recruitment, part mentoring, part matchmaking, and part emotional support. Wranglers are responsible for finding teens who want to grow as leaders, helping them return year after year, and thoughtfully matching them with unit leaders, co-PAs, and units where they’ll thrive.

They understand that not all PAs start in the same place. Some arrive ready to lead from day one; others are still finding their confidence. Our PA Wranglers work closely with unit leaders to strike the right balance—so newer PAs feel supported, and older PAs get the meaningful leadership experience they’re craving. The goal? By the time a PA becomes a Senior PA, they’re confident, capable, and ready to take the reins.

Wranglers also make sure PAs are prepared before camp, supported during camp, and—this part matters just as much—know that they are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. Teen leadership is powerful, but it’s also vulnerable, and having adults who truly get that makes all the difference.

Camp J works hard to ensure our PAs don’t just help run camp—they grow into leaders who trust themselves. That growth is intentional. And it’s guided every step of the way by our PA Wranglers.

Next week: meet the incredible humans who do this work. Those incredible humans are pictured, facing one of camp’s many “character-building moments.”💚

✨ Meet Marchioness Giggle ✨

Health Coordinator. Diplomacy Specialist. The calm voice when the heat index is trying to murder us.

Giggle has been keeping Camp J upright, hydrated, and medically sound since… well, long enough that we’ve stopped counting. As our longtime head nurse, she’s been the brains (and heart) behind updated health and safety info for families—especially when campers are spending long days outside and the sun is choosing violence. She’s also made sure our volunteers know how to take care of themselves and when it’s time to send a camper to the nurse instead of trying to “walk it off.” (This is not the 80s. We hydrate now.)

At camp, Giggle has ensured campers are fed, watered, and patched up with impressive efficiency—handling everything from scraped knees to mysterious bumps that “just appeared.” She manages health forms like a boss and makes sure unit leaders have exactly the info they need to keep campers safe.

And because apparently one role isn’t enough, she also handles badge and patch sorting for the final day and serves as our Diplomacy Specialist—responding to parent concerns with kindness, clarity, and a level of patience we should probably bottle and sell.

This year brings a change: Giggle won’t be our head nurse because her daughter, Li’l Bacon, is graduating PA-style, and Giggle will be leading a unit with her right at her side. The nurse baton is being passed to Danger Mouse (yes, perfect camp name, no notes).
We’re excited for this new setup—and even more excited that next year, we might be lucky enough to have TWO powerhouse camp nurses on site: Giggle and Danger Mouse. 💚

Drop some love for Marchioness Giggle below—because camp literally wouldn’t run without her. 🌿🩺

If keeping campers safe, healthy, and cared for speaks to you, Camp J would love to have you as a volunteer. Your presence helps our campers thrive.

Baroness Buttercup has been a Camp J volunteer since 2022, first joining as a unit leader for Cadette Secret Agent before quickly becoming part of the core team. She bleeds green and is a true Girl Scout, living and breathing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience ideals every day.

On the core team, Baroness Buttercup handles logistics, which is a fancy way of saying she makes sure everything actually works. Buses get scheduled. Bus volunteers get the information they need. Unit leaders have supplies, support, and someone to call when things go sideways. If there is a detail to track, she’s already tracking it.

She is also affectionately known as our “bulldog.” Baroness Buttercup isn’t afraid to advocate firmly for Camp J and step in when tough conversations need to happen, especially with vendors. She does this with professionalism, confidence, and Camp J’s best interests at heart.

Behind that tough exterior is a deep love for Girl Scouting, Camp J, and our campers. Baroness Buttercup is loyal, dedicated, and genuinely invested in this community. We are incredibly lucky to have her on our team, and Camp J is stronger because of her.

💚 Do you bleed green and want to support the work that makes Camp J possible?

High Chancellor Poppy's message to the core team with this photo began "To avoid having Belcher write for me, here is a little blurb:"

We all love an optimist, don't we? That's why Poppy is our Volunteer Coordinator.

But we joke. Here is what Poppy would like you to know about herself.

High Chancellor Poppy (the one on the right with the same selfie skills as Belcher) is an elementary teacher, union leader, Girl Scout mom, and enthusiastic cheese connoisseur—which means she is well-practiced in leadership, problem-solving, and keeping people happy. As your Volunteer Coordinator, her goal is to make sure you feel supported, informed, and ready to focus on what matters most: creating an amazing camp experience for our Girl Scouts.

If you’ve ever thought, “I could help with that,” Poppy is your person. Whether you’re brand new to camp volunteering or a seasoned pro, she’ll help you find a role that fits your time, skills, and energy—no cape required... and no giraffes will be harmed or present. 😊

Belcher loves a goofy selfie.

2026 is her 10th year volunteering at Camp J. She’s been part of the camp through COVID, a change in location, and more than a few pivots—some planned, some very much not. Somewhere along the way, she went from Outdoor Skills Unit Leader to accidentally being listed as Camp Director (a title no one on the core team actually likes). Her daughter, TBD, is a graduating senior PA—and so are half the girls in her troop—making this year especially emotional and bittersweet, with a strong likelihood of ugly crying on the last day. Camp J has been a constant through changing seasons, growing kids, and a whole lot of memories—and she’s proud to be part of the team that makes the magic happen.

✨ Interested in volunteering? Camp J is always looking for people who want to help make the magic happen. Side effects may include lifelong memories and friendships. Click here to volunteer: https://www.campjulianna.org/volunteer-1
