All One Body is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our founding board member Thomas Hoeksema Sr. on Tuesday September 30. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife Mary, his children, and his grandchildren.

Tom has played a crucial role in the ministry of All One Body and will we miss his grace, wisdom, humor, and friendship. Thank you, Tom, for all you have done to support the q***r community and to challenge the church to do better. You are loved and will be missed.

All One Body, with our partnering organization Room for All, is pleased to introduce our National Conference Keynote Speaker: Rev. R.R. Tavárez!

Rev. R.R. Tavárez is a writer, artist, and minister. He is Afro-Latino of Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage, and proudly part of the Q***r community. To his audience, he delivers a unique intersection of writing, visual art and storytelling that reflects on race, gender, q***rness, social justice and faith. Tavárez is a bivocational leader, serving as the Executive Director of the nonprofit, and the founding pastor of En Vivo Church, an LGBTQ+ focused church plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tavárez studied Bible Theology and International Business & Marketing through his undergrad at Kuyper College. He later earned his M.Div at Calvin Theological Seminary with a concentration in Missions. His recently published book with Pilgrim Press, Drag Queen Preacher, is a memoir in verse of his journey into self-acceptance and empowerment as a gay-identifying minister.

You'll hear him speak when you join A1B & RfA October 23rd-25th, at Hope Church in Holland, MI for a gathering of affirming pastors, LGBTQIA+ Christians, parents and allies. You don’t have to be affiliated with any church, or even have a clearly defined description of your faith to attend. At this table, you are invited to come as you are! All One Body is pleased to join our sibling organization, Room for All, in sponsoring a celebration of God's faithfulness—20 years for RfA within the RCA and 14 years for A1B within the CRC. We are not just celebrating the past, but looking at what is yet to be achieved.

Join us October 23rd-25th, 2025, at Hope Church in Holland, MI for an in-person gathering of affirming pastors, LGBTQIA+ Christians, parents, and allies. Registration is open now: visit https://rfaconference25.eventbrite.com to register, and https://roomforall.com to learn more.

We’ll come together in LGBTQIA+ inclusive fellowship to worship, grow our understanding through workshops, engage in conversations that steer our course, be encouraged by our keynote speaker, and share healing words and support with one another.

Inspired by Psalm 119:90, our theme is Your Faithfulness Continues, honoring how all generations are connected by God’s steadfast love. God’s presence and promise to us endures in both difficult & fruitful times. By coming together in person, we will find new strength and connections to sustain us in these days.

“Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.” --Psalm 119:90

As both denominations are in states of transition—rocked and splintered in large measure due to varying positions regarding individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ or Q***r—RfA and A1B want to demonstrate unity. We hope to work together closely in the future.

God’s love is expansive, and we welcome those impacted by recent events into this inclusive and compassionate community.

You don’t have to be affiliated with any church, or even have a clearly defined description of your faith to attend. At this table, you are invited to come as you are!

Hesed is sponsoring an on-line session that I think might be of interest to you and the A1B community. Some churches have hosted lament sessions, but we have been hearing from people who feel isolated within their churches or missing connections with a wider community. To mark this moment of transition for many and foster connections, we have organized an on-line service, lead by Pastor Heidi Do Jonge. The themes are Praise,Lament, and Hope, drawing on the symbol of baptism and water.

Below is a notice for the event that includes link to register. Please share it with others who might value this.

Good Grief: We are not alone in feeling sad and disappointed, in the wake of decisions made by the CRC Synod 2024. You are invited to join an on-line service of Praise, Lament, and Hope for the Future, lead by Pastor Heidi De Jonge, sponsored by Hesed Project, a group that provides support to LGBTQ+ persons and families in churches of various types. May 22, 7 pm. Register at: https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/good-grief.

Join our online gathering to find each other and find God in this time of disorientation in the CRCNA. We will gather around the sacrament of baptism to praise, lament, and hope. Registered guests will be sent the Zoom link in their confirmation message. You will be able to attend anonymously but ha...
