Had a great dive at lake 16 tonight. Sun came out and helped light it up. Viz was about 20ft at all levels. Some of the best viz I have ever had out there. Ropes course is looking good. Still 42 degrees at the bottom.

Who’s up to dive Lake 16 on Tuesday at 6:00pm.

Lake 16 in Martin Mi . dives are from the boat launch.

There is an underwater mapped course off the platform. The platform is in rough shape but still up. The deep dive (80ft) is cold and dark so bring your thick suits and dive lights. The shallow dive can be a bit warmer and better chance to see fish or turtles.

Dive Site Directions:
Follow US-131 S to 12th St in Shelbyville. Take exit 59 from US-131 S
Take 10th St to 120th Ave in Martin Township
746-752 120th Ave, Martin, MI 49070

Had 20 ft of viz at Bills lake and temp was 42 at the bottom. Did not see any boats including the one at the bottom. The line was snapped and after an hr of looking just gave up. The deepest it got in the section closest to the boat ramp was 40ft. Next time out there will try a make it out to the second hole that is supposed to be 90 but I want to check.

Anyone else planning on Diving Bills lake tonight:

Bill lake info:
Dive from the boat launch area: It is approximately 90 feet deep at its deepest point, it is 50ft deep straight out from the boat launch area. There is a line to a small sunken boat in the 50ft depth area if you can find it.
Location of boat launch on West Side of the lake on Drive rd off of Pear Ave.

Upcoming Dives:
Since weekends are busy during the summer, we are going to try something different this year for club dives. We will be joining ADZ on the weekend picnic dives to start and end the season. Then we will be switching to weekly Tuesday night dives. These dives will be at different lakes to get exposure to new sites. I have attached a tentative dive schedule for the year. We will be using facebook to communicate if you are attending the dive (this will allows divers to know if they have someone to dive with or for the group to wait for someone). There will be some early season dives (before the May 26th picnic) for those who like colder water but better viz. If we get advance notice that an upcoming lake is bad we can change the location with the new location posted to facebook. I will post directions and information about the lakes and dives on facebook (hope to add to facebook calendar).
Hope to see you out there.

The 'Lizzie Throop' was an 86-foot-long schooner that was built at Mill Point in 1849 - just twelve years after Michigan became a state.

Hello divers,

Our next Dry Dive is this Monday, March 5. There has been an unplanned change to the agenda, we were not able to get the personal trainer. So the night will hopefully be replaced with member videos and pictures. We are asking members to bring in videos of recent or memorable dives and talk a bit about them. This is a chance to show off some video skills or if your video skill are like mine then just show off interesting dives.

Sorry for the last minut notice, but I am sure some of the members have some great moments to share with us.

Don’t forget the Dive meeting on Monday December 4th.

Heather Bloom will be speaking on diving in Indonsia, specifically in Raja Ampat. In 2010, Raja Ampat or “Four Kings” is the name for these islands, located in the heart of the incredible Coral Triangle! This area of Raja Ampat is known to have the richest coral reef ecosystem in the world! Topside you’ll see steep jungle covered limestone islands, stunning white sand beaches, hidden lagoons, and dense mangrove forest. This is a 9.8 million acres national park! Underwater more than 1300 types of fish (23 of which are only found here) 580 types of corals, sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins, and even whales call the park their home. If you have not experienced the diving in this area, it is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world!

The location for all dry dives is at Brann's Steakhouse & Grille on 401 Leonard St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm but we suggest getting there around 6:15 pm to socialize with fellow divers get a good seat and order some food!
