22 Veterans per day…

30% of Veterans have mental health conditions requiring treatment
40% struggle with substance abuse
Less than 50% actually receive treatment.
22 Veterans per day commit su***de*

Mission: Help Fight the Demons
Support veterans battling effects from military service while helping prevent su***de through hands-on comme

rcial fishing (Watermen) activities combined with integrative therapy. How: Sanctuary
In partnership with the Knott Normal Crab Company, we will establish a sanctuary that will provide an opportunity for veterans to open up and connect while harvesting seafood, forming bonds, and seeking assistance. With love and support from the community, we will provide the opportunity to find peace through the hard work and solitude inherent when working on the water. We will also provide further opportunities to connect with other veterans and a wide range of integrative treatment options to help combat the effects of service. Our goal is to be there for anyone struggling and offer a menu of options to help with issues such as; relationship problems, depression, addiction/dependency, suicidal thoughts while also providing a pathway for training and job opportunities along with ensuring hard-earned Veteran’s Affairs benefits are received. Why will working on the water help? The serenity provided while crabbing or oystering provides a unique environment that allows for interpersonal connection through focused work and the solitude of being with nature—it is up to the veteran whether to communicate or just get lost in the work. The hope is that this opportunity will allow for a true connection between Veterans to facilitate an open space where they can talk about the demons they are fighting. This personal connection will enable a willingness to seek assistance…and the support and accountability to stay the course to help recover.

Take a breath, be present, be grateful🙏❤️🇺🇸
I see this everyday when I walk the dogs. For some reason this morning it seemed more magical.
As you go about your day remember to be grateful for everything…

Today is the Run for the Fallen plan accordingly and if you get caught in the traffic on 17 (3-5:30 coming through Gloucester) don’t get twisted just breath and be thankful for their sacrifice. The people on the sides of the road are loved ones of the fallen and today is a day for them to remember. If you don’t have anyone to remember, our family at Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW VFW Post 8252 Gloucester Virginia (private)
Will be at Precision Tune Auto remembering SGT Paul Dumont…say a prayer for him and his family🇺🇸🙏
Thank you for your sacrifice.

If you are looking for something to energize your soul…here it is! There are so many orgs out there that need members and support that are doing great things in our communities. Bottom line, get involved! If you need a push…I can say from the bottom of my heart that your local Moose lodge is a great place to start❤️🇺🇸🙏

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

We are in the home stretch. This is the final month of our Moose year and that means the final push to reach our membership and retention goals. I know for some Lodges, the quota has been made and for others, they are still searching. Regardless of this, every Lodge can work on retention. Here are a couple of ideas to help your Lodge finish strong.

1- Make those calls! The administrator should be able to pull the list of members that are expired or are expiring this month. A simple phone call or text is all it takes to show that member that you care. Board members should be expected to help with this. For instance, if you have 50 people to call but 6 board members making the calls makes it so much easier. That only 8 or 9 contacts per person.

2- Use contact platforms. Write a Facebook post. Use the texting application to do a blast. Send a mass email. Let those members know that they need to renew. Be the “squeaky wheel”. The more you are on social media the more wide spread your reach.

3-Remember why we are here. The passion for this fraternity should be within all of us. Sharing that is a great way to let people know just how wonderful this organization is. Keep that in the forefront and the people will come.

As always, I am here for any questions you may have or support I can give. Stay Moose proud friends!
