Meet Brandon Level, a Moton Fellow with The Gloucester Institute’s 2026 Moton Fellows Program! 🌟

A junior at James Madison University, Brandon is spending his summer networking with professionals, strengthening his leadership skills, and gaining experience in finance. For his fellowship, he selected the Institute’s Corporate Retreats Capstone Project, where he will conduct market research, develop a framework for hosting corporate retreats at Holly Knoll, and create an operations plan to bring those retreats to life.

“As someone who has visited Holly Knoll since I was a young kid, I feel confident in my understanding of its history and significance. I’m excited to build skills in finance, project management, and professionalism throughout the fellowship. I’ve seen how much fellows grow over a single summer, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience all that The Gloucester Institute has to offer. I’ll also be continuing to grow my YouTube channel and produce a full-length feature film.” — Brandon Level

We are excited to support Brandon’s journey and look forward to all he will accomplish this summer. 💼✨

At The Gloucester Institute, we connect our students with community leaders who are making an impact.

We’re excited to welcome Kenneth S. Johnson, CEO and Founder of JMI , as our featured speaker for A Seat at the Table on Wednesday, June 10th.

JMI is a Richmond-based strategic marketing and communications firm known for branding, public relations, community outreach, creative campaigns, and marketing. Ken’s impact also extends beyond the firm through his work as founder of the Richmond Jazz Festival, creating cultural spaces that bring people, music, and community together.

We look forward to our students learning from his leadership, vision, and commitment to community. 🎤🤝

Introducing “A Seat at the Table”

We believe leadership is shaped through access, mentorship, and meaningful relationships.

Through “A Seat at the Table,” our Moton Fellows share lunch with influential leaders from business, banking, law, education, government, and community organizations. This lunch series fosters meaningful conversations, the development of a professional network, and the sharing of wisdom.

These discussions help equip our students to become impactful leaders and agents of change in their communities and beyond.

Stay tuned all summer long as we highlight the remarkable leaders investing in our students and the impact these conversations are having on the next generation.

🎉 The Gloucester Institute is proud to welcome our 2026 Moton Fellows!

This summer, Brandon Level, Catherine Charles, Lauren Pearl, and Eric Brown (pictured from left to right) will participate in an immersive professional experience designed to prepare them for success in their academic, professional, and leadership journeys.

As part of their professional development, we will be handing these fellows the "keys" to our social media platforms. Throughout the summer, they will help tell the story of The Gloucester Institute through original posts, stories, reels, and behind-the-scenes content that highlights their experiences, perspectives, and growth.

This unique opportunity will allow them to strengthen their skills in communications, marketing, storytelling, and digital engagement while giving our community a firsthand look at life at Historic Holly Knoll and the important work taking place at the Institute.

Be sure to follow along, engage with their content, and support these emerging leaders as they learn, grow, and share their journey with us over the next eight weeks. We can't wait to see what they create! 🌟
