Auditions!!! Sunday, June 14th from 1-3pm at the Moose Family Center. It is officially one month away from our auditions for our Summer Program. The play will be “The Best School Year Ever” by Barbara Robinson who also wrote “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. It is a very funny play. The Best School Year Ever by Barbara Robinson is a humorous sequel to The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, that follows the chaotic six Herdman siblings through another school year. Narrator Beth Bradley describes how the notoriously misbehaved Herdman’s—who smoke, steal, and burn things—unintentionally improve the school year through their outrageous actions, leading to a shift in perception where they are seen as having redeeming, albeit chaotic, qualities. The play is a 75-minute show. The play highlights themes of not judging others, looking past initial impressions, and finding the good in unlikely places.
There are 27 actual character roles in this play and many supporting characters. We will have rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 ONLY. No Sunday Rehearsals. If you are doing another show we can very easily work around your summer schedule of family vacations and extra-curricular activities by including all of the dates you will NOT be available so that your character would not have to be at those rehearsals. Rehearsals will start on Tuesday, June 16 with two performance on Saturday, August 8 at 3 and 7pm with a small cast party between the two shows. You must be available August 4, 5 and 6 for final full rehearsals. This will be directed by both Missy and me by alternating weeks.
All auditions will be a cold read from the script. This is not a musical so you do NOT need to prepare anything. Please let me know if you have any questions.
