⛳ Representing Botetourt Masonic Lodge No. 7 on the Course!

Yesterday, our Lodge had the honor of fielding a team in the Ian McLaurin Shipley, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament. It was a great day of fellowship, friendly competition, and supporting a meaningful cause in our Masonic community.

Proud of our brothers who stepped up, showed up, and represented Botetourt Lodge No. 7 with integrity and good sportsmanship.

Enjoy the photo from the day — a reminder that brotherhood extends far beyond the lodge room.

LAONG-LAAN LODGE NO. 185

A MASON’S WORD

INTRODUCTION
We are all busy. Each man bears his own burdens—his own silent battles. In the world beyond the Lodge, responsibilities press heavily upon us: family, vocation, and the many trials that shape our character.
And yet, despite all these, we still choose to come.
We attend. We stand present.

THE QUESTION
Why?

THE ANSWER
Because we gave our word.
A Mason does not take his obligations lightly. His word is his bond—given with solemn intent, and upheld with unwavering fidelity. It is not spoken in haste, nor set aside for convenience.
Within the Craft, a man’s word reflects the very essence of his character. It is the foundation upon which trust is built, and upon which Brotherhood is sustained.

THE CONSEQUENCE
For when a man neglects his word, he diminishes his own honor. His voice—once respected—loses its weight among his Brethren.
The strength of our institution rests not merely in ritual or tradition, but in the integrity of the men who uphold it.

REFLECTION
Let us therefore be mindful:
That presence is not mere attendance, But a living testament of commitment.
That our obligations are not burdens, But guiding principles.

CONCLUSION
Be present.
Keep your word.
Live your obligation.

“Peace and Harmony being the strength of all well-regulated institutions…”

May we each strive to embody the true meaning of that timeless charge—not only in word, but in action.
