"I nominated my dad, Larry, and was called almost immediately to schedule. Everyone was so nice and we had a great night for sailing. My dad has had a rough few months with his cancer and losing his wife of 61 years. This was an awesome way to make some happy memories with him and help distract him from his sadness. Thank you all for the great memories and a beautiful sail."

"Thank you for allowing our family on your boat. It was awesome experience to see my father-in-law out on the water again. He grew up on the water and has not been able to get out much. So thank you again. Thank you to the crew for taking care of all our needs and more! We can not thank you enough!"

Here at Sail Beyond Cancer Virginia, we STRIVE to give everyone who comes aboard a wonderful time. Time away from their troubles, time away from sadness, and time away from medical treatments. And we allow them to just enjoy the beauty and solace of being out on the water with friends and family.

If you know someone who needs some SOLACE, please nominate them! If you would like to help your community members who are challenged by cancer achieve some Solace in their life, PLEASE VOLUNTEER! If you can not volunteer, and you feel so inclined, please DONATE! Every person and every penny counts!

🇺🇸 Thank you Visit Yorktown for a great weekend at the

🌊 It was an incredible honor to be a part of the celebration here at our home on the York River, where Solace brings hope and healing to those in our community that have been impacted by cancer ❤️

✨️ And we can't say enough about our volunteers that made it all happen! Over the past week we've had more than 30 volunteers be a part of the celebration and more than 150 volunteer hours logged for the 12 shifts! THANK YOU 👏👏👏

⛵️ Solace is now headed back to her home slip to get ready for a few respite sails this week.

🌡Another fantastic day at the and thankfully the heat was less oppressive which meant a lot more smiles all around!

📣 Today we're giving a shout out to the Colonial Seaport Foundation and their vessel Luna, a working replica of an early 18th century coastal trading sloop. They have been our dockmate for the past three days and kept an eye on Solace when the system blew through last night. Our crews (all volunteers) have had a great time getting to know each other 🪢

🇺🇸 What a SAIL-abration 🇺🇸 Day One of the was one for the books!

⛵️ Solace was a beautiful addition to the Parade of Sails and of course, the dolphins made an appearance 🐬

⚓️ Back at the dock we were invited by the aboard the YP700 for a special bell ringing ceremony for Declan, a local pediatric cancer patient 🔔

🛟 Once the gates opened at noon, our volunteers braved the heat to share our mission with hundreds of visitors, including and

🥵 It was HOT but were were ready! A huge THANK YOU to our volunteers who made it happen today! We can't wait for the weekend ahead!
