☀️ What a beautiful weekend for mission sails ⛵️

Today Solace is once again on the water for three back-to-back sails which will bring our total for this opening month to 14 sails!

✨️Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters who have joined with us to share the healing powers of wind, water, and sail with dozens of people in our community who have been impacted by cancer✨️

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, may we reflect with gratitude, live with purpose, and carry forward the values they so bravely defended.

What a fun time we had last weekend while filming our very own SBC VA Mission Impact video 🎬

✨️ Thank you Whit Wales and Suzanne Snyder for making this happen. We can't wait to see it all come together and have a way to visually share how we are sharing the healing powers of wind, water, and sail, with those in our community that are impacted by cancer ⛵️

✨️ Thank you to Linda Triolet for hosting us for the on shore filming, and all the volunteers that came together and shared their hearts ⚓️

✨️ And finally, thank to the mission sail Honorees that shared their stories with us ❤️

🩵Testimonial Tuesday🩵

This one is a special one for us here at Sail Beyond Cancer Virginia. This is our first sail of the 2026 sailing season. This is also a ✨Memorial Sail✨

These are SO very important to us and to the family. We always want to remember those we love who have left us too early. We have a small memorial ceremony with a certificate honoring the memorial sail, and loved ones aboard are welcome to spread flowers or petals in the water when the time feels right, along with a moment of silence. We also sound the ship bell 8 times to signify the sailor's end of watch.

"This has been an amazing experience to reflect on my Dad's life. Whether from telling stories and memories or just thinking of him to myself. It was a great way to keep his ways alive with his favorite songs on my playlists. Thank you!"

"What a great evening watching the sun set and reflecting on our Dad's life. Awesome time!"

"What a beautiful day to remember Jerry. This day was priceless, I enjoyed every minute. The volunteers will hold a special place in my heart for doing this."
