It’s been 16 days since the purple carpet.
16 days since the interviews, the looks, and the Deaf joy that filled the room.
The night is still with us. Thank you to everyone who walked it and made space for it.
Your year-end gift helps keep nights like this (and the work that follows) possible.

Deaf culture was not the theme of the night. It was the experience. 💜

On Saturday, October 3, Deaf and hearing guests came together at Loray Mill Grand Hall in Gastonia for The Deaf Culture Experience Premiere Gala. We shared one room, one meal, and one conversation, and more than 120 individuals were impacted in one night.

The photos are here, and we can't stop looking at them. Every guest walked the purple carpet into the Grand Hall. Faith Peavey, our ASL interpreter, made sure every guest could share every moment. The 360 photo booth kept the fun spinning, and the whole room lifted their hands in visual applause, a celebration everyone can see. Two Door Productions even filmed the trailer for our documentary series, The Deaf Culture Experience, right there in the room.

Thank you to:
💜 Our hosts, Fly Ty and Jacinda Jacobs, who kept the room full of energy and heart
💜 Dana and James Bahr of Southern Aisles Wedding & Events, who coordinated the night, led our volunteers, called the show, and held down our speakeasy and VIP space
💜 Our sponsors: TRC Automotive, our top sponsor, Exclusive, Homestead Events at Historic Loray Mill, First Choice Business Brokers, Alchemy Coworking, The Pointe Church, FASTSIGNS of Gastonia, Tindol Ford, Advanced Wealth Strategies, and Southern Aisles Wedding & Events
💜 Our vendors: Homestead Events at Historic Loray Mill, TMG Unique Event Designs, Two Door Productions, DJ Deaf Tunez, DJ Daybreak, our 360 photo booth team, and Kristina Lynn Photography
💜 Our volunteers, from registration to the speakeasy to the buffet line
💜 Gastonia Mayor Pro Tem Jim Gallagher, and Deputy Ben Henderson and his team from the Gaston County Sheriff's Office, for standing with our Deaf neighbors

One night filled the room. Monthly giving keeps it full. Coming up next is Giving Tuesday, December 1, as we prep for prom next year for the students of the North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD). Every student deserves a night like this one: dressed up, celebrated, and fully included. Monthly donors are how we plan for nights like that.

Thank you, Gastonia! 💜

Last night, more than 120 people came together at Loray Mill Grand Hall for The Deaf Culture Experience Premiere Gala. Deaf and hearing guests shared one room, one meal, and one conversation. We felt the love all night long.

Something special happened too. The trailer for The Deaf Culture Experience, our documentary series, was filmed right there in the room. Every person who came is part of that story now.

Here is our ask: we want to see the night through your eyes. 📸
Please drop your photos and videos in the comments below, or tag Nita's Silent Hands when you post. Purple carpet pictures, table selfies, the panel. We want all of it.

Thank you to our sponsors: TRC Automotive, our top sponsor, Exclusive, First Choice Business Brokers, Alchemy Coworking, The Pointe Church, and FASTSIGNS.

Thank you to our vendors: Homestead Events at Historic Loray Mill, our venue and caterer, TMG Unique Event Designs, Two Door Productions, DJ Deaf Tunez and DJ Daybreak, The 360 Photo Booth, and Kristina Lynn Photography.

Thank you to our media partners: Cranke Marketing Agency, Beyond Normal Media, and KennyJTV.

Thank you to our hosts, Fly Ty and Jacinda Jacobs, for carrying the night with so much heart.

A special thank you to Jaivyn Beauford, the 100th Miss Johnson C. Smith University and our first Bridge Builder, for sharing the story of Nita's Silent Hands so beautifully.

And thank you to our volunteers and every guest who chose to stand with the Deaf community last night.

With love in action,
Nita's Silent Hands

Happy Birthday to our founder, Starr Clinton! 🤟🏾

Starr built Nita’s Silent Hands so Deaf voices are seen, heard, and honored, and so the Deaf community has a seat at every table. Her vision brings us to tomorrow night: our gala at Loray Mills Grand Hall, where we begin filming The Deaf Culture Experience, a documentary series telling Deaf stories in their own language.

Starr, thank you for leading with heart, purpose, and love. Today we celebrate you!

Help us celebrate by being part of the mission. Grab a gala ticket, sponsor the film, or become a monthly donor. Link in bio.

We grateful to have TRC Automotive Repair as a 3 time sponsor.

They are backing the Deaf Culture Experience Premiere Gala as a Spotlight Sponsor. A shop earns its reputation one repair at a time, from people who came back because someone treated them right. That is the same math the Deaf community runs on. Trust gets built in small moments, by people who show up.

O.P.I. Builders builds things meant to outlast the people who commissioned them.

They are backing the Deaf Culture Experience Premiere Gala as a Friend Sponsor. Different material, same instinct. A community where Deaf and hearing people move easily between each other does not appear on its own. Somebody funds it, and somebody builds it.

Saturday, October 3, 2026. Loray Mill, Gastonia. Black tie, purple carpet. Tickets at the link in bio.
