The Schiele is committed to inspiring curiosity and understanding of science and the natural world.

The Schiele’s exceptional museum exhibits include dinosaur fossils, wildlife displays, gems and minerals, and American Indian artifacts. In addition, the museum has a state-of-the-art planetarium, a Nature Trail, a replica Catawba Indian Village, and “The Farm”, a showcase of local agriculture and live animals.

In honor of , here are five fun facts about fall's favorite fruit.

🎃European settlers in America added honey, spices, and milk to pumpkins for an early version of pumpkin pie.
🎃The largest pumpkins ever grown weighed over 2700 pounds!
🎃1 billion pounds of pumpkins are grown each year in the U.S.
🎃They grow on every continent except Antarctica.
🎃Prehistoric mammals like mastodons ate pumpkins.

Visit The Farm daily this fall to take photos in a large pumpkin and meet a pumpkin-loving mastodon!

On Friday night, the museum transformed...🎃👻🦕
Visitors met creepy critters, saw oozing pumpkin experiments, explored a haunted exhibit, learned about real-life monsters, and MORE.

Cute cows and cold b**r kept the crowd happy during Moos & Brews on Thursday night.
