Staffing Update – Special Announcement
The Piedmont Council, Scouting America, would like to thank Adam McCarrison for his eleven years of service (2015-2026) as a member of our professional team. Adam will be leaving the Piedmont Council on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, and will continue his work in Scouting as the new Assistant Scout Executive for the Palmetto Council, Scouting America (Spartanburg, South Carolina) starting Wednesday, July 1st, 2026.
Adam’s professional experience is diverse w/the Piedmont Council. An Eagle Scout from the Greater Pittsburgh Council (now Laurel Highlands Council), Adam started his professional career w/Scouting as a District Executive for the Heartland District (Lincoln County & Northern Gaston County). In 2018, he was promoted to Senior District Executive in the Heartland District. In 2020, he was offered the opportunity to serve as part of the council’s management team as a Field Director. In this role, he served alongside w/District Executives in all our eleven counties in terms of helping grow their finance, membership, and program w/their volunteer bases. He was the primary trainer for all our new team members and was the staff advisor for several committees, fundraising events, etc.
Adam attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and graduated w/a Bachelor of Science in Education w/teaching certifications in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and North Carolina and earned a Masters of Education in Middle and Secondary Instruction. Prior to working w/the Piedmont Council, Adam was a middle and high school educator serving youth at Hampton School District #2 (now Hampton School District), Lexington City Schools, and Cabarrus County Schools. Adam completed Woodbadge (Beaver Patrol) in 2018, is a Rotarian (now Service Choice Member) in the Rotary Club of Lincolnton and had served as their Program Director, Secretary, President-Elect, and President, and is a community member in the Lincolnton – Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory, North Carolina.
Adam currently resides in Lincolnton, North Carolina w/his wife Nicki and dog, Sasha, and looks forward to working with the unit leaders and their families in the Palmetto Council. Please congratulate him as he looks at continuing his personal service to Scouting!

Welcome our newest District Executive – Hannah Todd
Gemstone District (Iredell County)
The Piedmont Council, Scouting America, would like to welcome Hannah Todd as the newest member of our professional team. Hannah will join the Piedmont Council on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, and will serve as the District Executive for the Gemstone District, serving Iredell County.
Although Hannah may be new to professional Scouting, her professional experience is diverse. An Eagle Scout from the Mecklenburg County Council who has also earned the Summitt and Quartermaster Awards, Hannah previously worked at Walt Disney World as a Recreation Cast Member, a Student Ambassador for the Mars Hill University Admissions Office, and as a Water Safety Instructor for Aqua-Tots Swim Schools.
Hannah attended Mars Hills University and graduated w/a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Sports Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Nonprofit Leadership w/a minor in Business Administration and Sociology. Also, Hannah has served as the National Vice President of Program for Scouting America’s Venturing Program in 2023-2024 and currently serves as the Aquatics Director for Camp Grimes in Nebo, North Carolina.
She currently resides in Matthews, North Carolina and looks forward to working with the unit leaders and their families in the Gemstone District. We are excited for her to serve our local communities!

Welcome our newest District Executive – Nathaniel Worthington
South Fork District (Gaston County)
The Piedmont Council, Scouting America, would like to welcome Nathaniel “Nate” Worthington as the newest member of our professional team. Nate will join the Piedmont Council on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, and will serve as a District Executive for the South Fork District, serving Gaston County.
Although Nate may be new to professional Scouting, his professional experience is diverse. An Eagle Scout from the Piedmont Council, Scouting America (Gemstone District), Nate previously worked as a Child Care Lead / Aide for Concord Academy and for the last two summers has worked at Camp Bud Schiele, Piedmont Scout Reservation, as our Archery Instructor and Law Merit Badge Instructor. He is currently working this summer as our Nature Director.
Nate attended High Point University and graduated w/a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology.
He currently resides in Concord, North Carolina and looks forward to working with the unit leaders and their families in the South Fork District. We are excited for him to serve our local communities!

Welcome our newest District Executive – Lucas Green
South Fork District (Lincoln County)
The Piedmont Council, Scouting America, would like to welcome Lucas Green as the newest member of our professional team. Lucas will join the Piedmont Council on Monday, June 22nd, 2026, and will serve as a District Executive for the South Fork District, serving Lincoln County.
Although Lucas may be new to professional Scouting, his professional experience is diverse. An Eagle Scout from the Greater Alabama Council (Arrowhead District), Lucas previously worked as a General Manager for JagTV, was a Conservation Crew Member for the American Conservation Experience, and has worked for several food-based establishments in the Huntsville and Athens communities as a Bartender, Server, Assistant Kitchen Manager, Café Supervisor, and Assistant Restaurant Manager.
Lucas attended the University of South Alabama for English Literature (Literacy Theory) & Communication (Multimedia Production). Also, Lucas will be serving as an Assistant Kitchen Manager at Camp Bud Schiele (Piedmont Scout Reservation) this summer as he looks to move into Lincoln County.
He currently resides in Athens, Georgia and looks forward to working with the unit leaders and their families in the South Fork District. We are excited for him to serve our local communities!

The Piedmont Council flag will fly at half mast this week in honor of long time Scouter Bentley “Ben” Mabee. Ben was an active member of T503, a fixture in the kitchen at OA events, and served in many roles in the former Two Rivers district including District Commissioner. Ben will be truly missed and we send our thoughts and prayers to his wife Carol and his entire family.

Gaston County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 566 is extremely proud to announce that Explorers Rylan Lewis, Sebastian Morales, and Kaden Brinkley have been selected as recipients of the prestigious NC Fellows Scholarship.

This achievement reflects their hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence both within our Explorer program and in their academic pursuits. We are honored to see these young leaders recognized for their accomplishments and look forward to watching them continue to succeed in their future endeavors.

The Piedmont Council, Scouting America would like to thank all the units who participated in the 2026 Discount Card Sale. Total sales were just a little more than 28,000 cards sold. If your unit didn't participate, you missed out on a great unit/scout fundraiser. We would also like to recognize our top seller - Corbin Richards with P72 who sold 355 cards! In addition, congratulations to our "Luck of the Draw" winner - Hunter Hudson of T129 who sold 117 cards.
Top selling unit was once again Troop 129 out of Spindale, NC and the Broad River District, Piedmont Council BSA with more than 1500 cards sold. A strong second place goes to Troop 9 from Gastonia who sold more than 800 cards. Way to go Scouts!!!
