Our FINAL Household Hazardous Waste Collection of 2026 is this Saturday in Griffith!

📅 Saturday, October 17
⏰ 9 AM–2 PM
📍 Griffith Public Works
134 South Colfax St., Griffith, IN

Because this is our last HHW collection of the year, we are expecting a heavy turnout and potentially longer wait times. Please plan accordingly and allow yourself extra time.

🚗 Important traffic information:
Vehicles will not be permitted to line up before 8:45 AM. Beginning at that time, please line up on Gatlin Street and follow directions from event staff.

🗂️ Free on-site paper shredding will also be available.

🎨 Latex paint reminder: Latex paint is NOT accepted at Household Hazardous Waste collections. Most household paint sold today is latex, so check the label for terms such as latex, acrylic, water-based, or soap-and-water cleanup.

If that’s what you have, hang onto it! Our FREE Latex Paint Recycling Event is the following weekend, Saturday, October 24. We’ll put a link with full details in the comments below.

✅ Oil-based paint IS accepted at HHW collections.
🚫 Latex paint is NOT accepted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Chief Joseph Komoscar, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He spent 32 years serving our community with Lake Ridge Fire, rising through the ranks as a Firefighter, Officer, Assistant Chief, and Fire Chief. We extend our deepest condolences to the entire Komoscar family, his children, grandchildren, and loved ones.

Celebrate the life of Joseph Komoscar and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
