Last week we came together as a staff to celebrate and congratulate Janet Cotton. She has been with the United Way of Genesee County for 36 years. In a few weeks she will retire after serving in the important role of finance in our organization.

As many know she doesn't like her picture taken, so we honor her by respecting that. She did approve the all staff photo, zoom in to see her. 😜 We made sure to gather all her favorite goodies and we played games as she is a dedicated Bingo player.

Words can not express enough how much Janet has given of herself to the organization, the community, and especially to all her co-workers over the last 36 years. We wish you all the best in your retirement Janet!

Congratulations to McLaren on another beautiful Gala. Our CEO James Gaskin and his wife Becky (CEO at Red Cross) embraced this year's Great Gatsby theme!

This year’s McLaren Charity Gala will support community outreach programs. These vital initiatives include the McLaren Flint Street Medicine program for individuals experiencing homelessness; Art Therapy for those impacted by cancer; Free 3-D Mammograms for the uninsured and underinsured; fresh food support for heart failure patients; and the food pantry at the Flint Karmanos Cancer Institute, which helps ensure at-risk patients receive proper nutrition and support better health outcomes.

This morning we attended the Mid Michigan Nonprofit Professionals Meeting. This is FREE for Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce members and nonmembers, exclusively available for nonprofit organizations.

This group brings nonprofit executives and development leaders together to support the sustainability and impact of nonprofit organizations that serve the needs and culture of our region’s residents. The MMNP bi-monthly meetings create opportunities for friendly networking, collaboration, and insights from seasoned experts.
