A huge thank you to Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools High School for having us out to lead yoga and mindfulness with your high schoolers for Mental Health Awareness Month!

There is nothing quite like the energy of a student trying yoga for the very first time. It was truly moving to hear them share how much they enjoyed the practice and how positive they felt afterward. I was so impressed by this group, they knew how to have fun, but they were also incredibly focused on learning the movements. Grateful for the chance to share these tools for peace and strength!

At the end of the event, one student said, "I'm going to practice yoga everyday!"

Crim Program Coordinator Jen had the incredible opportunity to share her work, Mindfulness in Sports: Crim’s More Than Sports, at the conference.

This presentation centered on a powerful truth supported by current research: mindfulness in athletics can be a meaningful tool for helping mitigate the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and environmental trauma.

Sports naturally create community and connection, but when mindfulness practices are integrated and supported by caring coaches, they can also help student-athletes regulate their nervous systems, build resilience, and regain focus that trauma can disrupt. These practices support the whole child while providing mental wellness tools similar to the training used by professional athletes. It’s about more than physical ability. It’s about building the mental strength and emotional resilience needed to succeed both on and off the field.

Thank you to the MiACE community for the opportunity to share how courts and fields can become spaces for healing, growth, and connection, and how empowering coaches to be a consistent, supportive adult in a child’s life can truly be life changing.
