The WHHM is open year round, offering tours of this stately home as it was during the late 19th century. Your tax dollars are at work!

Explore the Whaley family legacy of Family, Philanthropy, and Preservation during your next tour, or at one of our regularly scheduled programs! The Whaley Historic House Museum is the historic home of the Whaley family, who resided in the home from 1885 - 1925. Newly restored following a devastating fire in 2015, The Whaley Historic House Museum preserves the house endeavors to continue the legacy of benevolence, collaboration, and civic-mindedness of the McFarlan-Whaley family. Come learn about the importance of the Whaley family to the development of Flint and gain a deeper appreciation and understanding for our shared cultural heritage and history! The Whaley Historic House Museum is open year-round and offers regularly scheduled and special programming and events, as well as public guided tours on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, with the exception of holiday weekends. Admission is free during our open hours, courtesy of the Greater Flint Arts Council Share Art Genesee Grant Program made possible by the Genesee County Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage funds. We are also happy to offer guided tours to individuals and groups by appointment, during the week. Please call (810)-238-7228 or e-mail ([email protected]) to schedule an appointment. **Artifact Donation Request**
Dearest friends and neighbors, some of you may have heard the buzz that we are planning a new educational "Travel Trunk" program as a way to better engage younger audiences, especially students in surrounding elementary schools. Thanks in part to funding from the University of Michigan-Flint College of Arts, Sciences & Education and a recent donation from the Sloan Museum of Discovery, we now have a 19th-century steamer trunk ready to fill with period pieces to send off to our surrounding schools.
That being said, we still need to fill said trunk. We are asking you, our supportive community, to help us bring history to youngsters.
We're asking for donations of 19th-century objects that would fit inside this steamer trunk AND be safe to be handled by K-5 school children.
We are seeking anything from books, toys, household items, textiles etc. from this time period. They will help tell the story of the Whaley and Flint's Gilded Age to young minds and bridge the gap between the past and the present.
This trunk would travel around Flint and surrounding Genesee County schools (and maybe even beyond!). If you have an object from the mid- to late-19th century that is safe for little hands and that you are comfortable with children interacting with, please email us a photograph and a brief description/history of the object. **Saturday Night Special**
Dearest friends and neighbors, we have heard your requests for more open tours this month. That being said we are excited to announce this Saturday night, the 24h from 7-9 our work-study students and volunteers will be present offering open self-guided tours throughout the museum.
We pride ourselves on being primarily run by students, and this is an amazing opportunity to support the hard work they've put in, plus a wonderful chance to see our House in Mourning exhibit at night! You are cordially invited to step back in time and pay your respects to the late Honorable Robert Jeremiah Whaley as our students take the lead this Saturday night!

We're beyond excited (and a little scandalized 😉) to have a touch of ancient Greece come to our side lawn the weekend of June 18th with this production of Lysistrata! We invite all our friends and neighbors to join us and Buckham Alley Theatre to support community theater and the arts in !

Join Buckham Alley Theatre as we jump back to a Greek Comedy! We will be presenting this show OUTSIDE the - so bring a chair or a blanket to come see this hilarious comedy. We recommend 18+ for this production there are some adult topics. Tickets can be purchased at BuckhamTheatre.org
