Cody, owner of Beans and Leaves, celebrated opening his new kiosk business location inside the Burton Goodwill earlier this year. Opening day gave Cody the chance to showcase his business, connect with customers, make sales, and fully be part of a major Goodwill Mid-Michigan and community event.
Throughout the day, customers stopped by the kiosk, made purchases, and talked with Cody. It gave him the opportunity to show others what owning a business has done for his confidence, independence, and quality of life. Goodwill even purchased items from Cody to include in their swag bags for the event, which was another great way to support his business.
Goodwill Mid-Michigan currently has four kiosks that are independently owned and operated by individuals who have barriers to employment located inside the Clio, Flint Township, Fenton, and, of course, the Burton store. These kiosks are more than just small businesses. They show how community partnerships and supportive opportunities can help people overcome barriers, build confidence, and gain greater independence.
