The Capitol Hotel stood on the corner of 2nd St. and Harrison St. for sixty years, but was damaged by fire in the early 1990s. This led to its demolition, and the parcel is now a parking lot.

This photo of Wonderland Travel is from the late 1970s. Located where University Pavilion now stands, the left half of the building was formerly Hubbard Hardware. This community event is part of Genesee County’s America 250 Celebration. The Panel will focus on what has occurred in Genesee County to expand the “All Men Are Created” Promise of the Declaration of Independence.

From The Whaley Historic House Museum of Flint, Michigan.

**Public Viewing**
You are invited to attend our latest seasonal exhibit, Victorian House in Mourning. Throughout October, the house will be cloaked in the black crepe of death, showcasing 19th-century mourning traditions, and how families in this time period would have coped with passing of a loved one. This exhibit heavily focuses on the topic of death, funerals, and mourning traditions; viewer discretion is advised. Private and after-hours tours can be scheduled by appointment.

Old City Hall was built in 1908 after a fire destroyed the previous structure, this version of City Hall was on the west side of Saginaw Street between 2nd and 3rd streets where the McCree complex now stands.
This building served the city for 50 years, and was demolished in 1958 when the new civic complex was built a few blocks south. This lot was then became the site of Montgomery Ward.
