We're celebrating Juneteenth at the Flint Cultural Center on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.! This free event has kids activities, local vendors, live music, and a Freedom March at noon led by Hamady High School's marching band. Applewood is hosting an official Civic Season Wish Wall, inviting community members to add their wishes for our nation's future. Join the celebration in honor of Juneteenth and the contributions of Black communities past and present – both here in Flint and across the nation.

Beginning June 22, kids and teens can receive a free lunch Monday through Friday at the following City of Flint Park locations:

“When I think about my role at the Ruth Mott Foundation, it is always really to help people think about learning as an invitation to grow instead of a forced mandate.”

She then acknowledges that doing so requires a great deal of intentionality. “Thinking about who is in the room, who’s sharing knowledge, who’s gaining knowledge, and making it more of a conversation or a dialogue, instead of making it feel like learning is something that is only transferred from one person to someone else.”
