Heroes on the Water helps veterans, first responders and their family members relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through kayak fishing and the outdoors.

Heroes on the Water helps our Nation’s warriors and veterans from all branches of the United States military unwind using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. What looks like a day trip of paddling and fishing is in fact som**hing much deeper and long-lasting. Founded in 2007, our unique kayak fishing program allows the participants a chance to decompress from the stresses associated with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation. Warriors enjoy these benefits while on guided fishing trips held in local communities around the country. Participants receive basic kayak fishing and paddling instruction, angling clinics and paddling classes for participants with skill sets ranging from beginners to the most experienced paddlers.

November 7th is going to be a little busy for us...We are back for year 2 of the Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade!
Come on out and take in the parade, waive your American Flags, and honor the veterans that will be in the parade. Make plans to attend, we will be looking for familiar faces in the crowd!

Deployment affects more than the person who's away. It also means missed birthdays, changed routines, long stretches apart and families finding ways to keep everything moving at home.

On National Day of the Deployed, we're recognizing the service members carrying out their duties away from home and the families supporting them from a distance.

At Heroes on the Water, we know that supporting military families matters, both during service and afterward.

To everyone currently deployed and everyone waiting for them at home, we're thinking of you today.

Good afternoon NW Arkansas and HOW Nation!

Our first parade of 3 is in the books. We were invited to be a part of the Decatur Veterans Parade that happened today in Decatur, AR. There is som**hing special about small town parades...these folks still get it.
Thank you to everyone that helped put this parade on and thank you to all of the veterans that took part in it.

It is with deep sadness that this post is being made. Back in 2024, we were asked to do som**hing special for a local veteran and his wife, Lonnie and Mary Tate. Lonnie was under hospice care at the time. Ms Mary wanted to take Mr Lonnie fishing one last time. Fishing together is som**hing they both very much enjoyed. With his condition, the only feasible option was to bring the fishing to him, and we did! This day will always stick with me and the volunteers that was there to witness this unique event.
I received a text message from Ms Mary today, not one that anyone wants to get. Mr Lonnie had passed over the weekend. We ask that you keep Ms Mary and the family in your thoughts as they begin to navigate this sad time in their lives. With the family's permission, I will post the arrangement details when those are made available.

I'll never forget hearing you calling the fish that day "Here fishy, fishy", Rest in peace Mr Lonnie.
