Heroes on the Water - Northwest Arkansas Chapter

Heroes on the Water - Northwest Arkansas Chapter Heroes on the Water helps veterans, first responders and their family members relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through kayak fishing and the outdoors.

Heroes on the Water helps our Nation’s warriors and veterans from all branches of the United States military unwind using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. What looks like a day trip of paddling and fishing is in fact something much deeper and long-lasting. Founded in 2007, our unique kayak fishing program allows the participants a chance to decompress from the stresses associated

with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation. Warriors enjoy these benefits while on guided fishing trips held in local communities around the country. Participants receive basic kayak fishing and paddling instruction, angling clinics and paddling classes for participants with skill sets ranging from beginners to the most experienced paddlers.

The water has a way of bringing people together.

For veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders, a day outdoors can mean more than recreation. It can be a chance to reconnect, find community, and experience a sense of peace that's hard to find elsewhere.

That's why we're proud to highlight Turtlebox as part of our Freedom Found on the Water initiative. Through their limited-edition Bass Artist Series speaker featuring artwork by Casey Underwood Art, a portion of every sale supports Heroes on the Water and the work happening across chapters nationwide.

Available through June 30. https://ow.ly/qM4J50ZcQXV

What does the flag mean? Ask ten people and you'll get ten different answers.
For some, it's a symbol of freedom. For others, sacrifice. For many who have served in the military or as first responders, it's tied to experiences, memories, and people they'll never forget. And the American flag has been present in moments of pride, moments of loss, and moments that changed lives forever.

That's why Flag Day isn't simply about recognizing a symbol. It's about reflecting on the values and commitments that symbol represents, and the people who have dedicated themselves to serving under it.

Today, we honor all those who have worn the uniform, answered the call, and continue to serve their communities long after their shifts or service have ended.

And as we display our nation's flag, it's also a good opportunity to refresh our understanding of proper flag etiquette and traditions.

Good Saturday afternoon NW Arkansas and HOW Nation!

Another successful Siloam Springs event is in the books! There was lots of laughs, lots of smiles and plenty of comrade today….all the things that make what we do even better.

29 participants came out today and I am certain, by the time they left…their belly’s were full from the donated food that Rudy’s BBQ and Country Store in Fayetteville supplied. Sliced brisket, smoked turkey, pulled pork, beans, mac n cheese, and potato salad! We can’t thank Andy and his team enough for a great meal today.

To our participants…thank you for choosing our event today! Y’all are the soul reason we continue to do what we do.

Thank you to the Military Service Sisters - Arkansas representatives that were at the event today. Thank y’all for bringing the Arkansas Woman Veteran license plate for us to show off!

As I’ve said many times over, I can’t thank my team of volunteers enough. Today, they definitely earned their keep and got worked pretty hard. We launched every kayak in our inventory today…

Good Friday morning NW Arkansas and HOW Nation!

Today is Women Veteran Recognition Day. Our chapter has been putting on special events for our local Sheros for some time now. We recognized that there was a need for these ladies and we stepped up.
We pride ourselves in honoring our women veterans. We go above and beyond for them. Why? Because we believe that they deserve it and more.

We promote our good friends Military Service Sisters - Arkansas all the time. The ladies that make up this group are top notch. Because of them, Arkansas now offers a Woman Veteran license plate! The chapter is proud and honored to work alongside this amazing group of female veterans.

So, today…ladies, we see you, we honor you, and we at Heroes on the Water - NW Arkansas hear you.

Good afternoon NW Arkansas and HOW Nation!
A little reminder....if you're planning on attending the event at Siloam Springs this Saturday, please get your waiver (s) completed. If you have been to an event this season, you are only required to complete the Liability Waiver. I can't stress enough to have these competed prior to the day of the event.
By doing so, it allows us to get y'all on the water much faster. instead of having to take the time to fill them out at the event.

When was the last time you weren't multitasking?
No notifications. No endless scrolling. No next task already competing for your attention.
Just one thing at a time.

For many of us, that's become surprisingly rare.
Life moves fast. Responsibilities pile up. The noise never seems to stop.

For those who have served in the military or as first responders, that pace can feel even more familiar. Always focused on what's next. Always prepared for what's coming.

But now more than ever, there's value in slowing down long enough to simply be where you are, enjoy a conversation, appreciate a quiet moment, and spend time with people who understand your experiences.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is give ourselves permission to be present.

Good Tuesday afternoon NW Arkansas and HOW Nation!

Hopefully everyone is dried out from all the rain of late! Speaking of rain, I will be watching the forecast this week. As of today, there is decent chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. Those chances have diminished a little since yesterday...therefore, I will wait until Friday to see if the weather will be favorable for us to hold the Siloam Springs event on Saturday.

Stay tuned for updates if necessary.

Every Heroes on the Water event starts with people willing to step up and serve.

Today, we're grateful for the volunteers who make this mission possible in communities across the country.

Whether you've volunteered once or a hundred times, thank you for helping create opportunities for veterans, active-duty military members, first responders, and their families.

If you've volunteered with Heroes on the Water, tell us where and how long you've been involved. We'd love to recognize our volunteer community in the comments.
