Mentorship doesn't happen in just one place or in just one way. 💚

It happens over lunch at school. After the final bell rings. In workplaces where students explore new possibilities. And in everyday moments when a Big shows up for their Little.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we're creating more ways for young people to experience the encouragement, guidance, and connection that mentorship brings.

Different programs. Different places. Different relationships. But one thing they all have in common: someone choosing to show up for a young person.

And every connection is part of som**hing bigger. 💚

We are heartbroken as we honor the life of one of our Littles, Charlotte Broshears.

Charlotte was paving the path to a bold future. She cherished family adventures, loved others passionately, volunteered often in her community, and was never afraid to dream big.

Charlotte was matched with her Big Sister Marissa in January 2025. Their bond grew from the moment they met through shopping, grabbing coffee, or chatting over a Chick-fil-A s’mores milkshake. Charlotte’s family called Marissa a true “bestie.” The two loved spending time together, and Marissa cheered Charlotte on as she worked toward earning her Certified Nursing Assistant certification.

We offer our deepest condolences, thoughts, and love to Charlotte’s family, her Big Sister Marissa, and everyone whose life she touched. The Big Brothers Big Sisters community will greatly miss Charlotte’s warm energy, and she will forever be an unforgettable part of our story.

We can't wait to see this friendship grow, one lunch at a time! 💚✨

Sometimes mentorship happens right in the middle of the school day. 💚

Through our Lunch Buddies program, elementary school students are matched with caring mentors, whether that's a high school student or a volunteer from the community, who spend time with them during lunch at school.

What might seem like a simple lunch break becomes a chance to build a friendship, share stories, laugh, and have someone who looks forward to seeing you.

It's one of the many ways we're bringing mentorship into the places where young people already learn and grow.

Because mentorship doesn't happen in just one place or in just one way. Every connection is part of som**hing bigger. 💚

“My hope for Austin’s future is that he’ll show himself the same love and compassion he always shows me.” 💚

When we asked Big Tanner to share his hopes for his Little, Austin, he wrote som**hing that captures what makes mentorship so special.

It's not always about the big milestones. Sometimes it's the encouragement, the laughter, and the little moments that remind us how much these relationships mean to both Bigs and Littles.

Tanner, who recently received our Horizon Award for his outstanding commitment to mentorship in his first year as a Big, is just one example of the meaningful connections happening in our community.

As we head into the end of the year, we're celebrating the relationships that make this work possible and the people who show up for each other.

Because every connection is part of som**hing bigger. 💚

✨ The Power of Connection was on full display! ✨

On October 14, we gathered to celebrate the incredible Bigs and supporters who make our mission possible. Our Power of Connection event was a chance to recognize the people who show up, build meaningful relationships, and help create brighter futures for young people across Northwest Arkansas.

🏆 We were honored to recognize some outstanding individuals:

🌟 Horizon Award – Tanner Pittman: This award celebrates a Big in their first year who has gone above and beyond in their commitment to mentorship. Tanner has done just that by consistently showing up for his Little, understanding his unique needs, and finding thoughtful ways to make him feel comfortable, confident, and included!

💚 Mission Champions – Matt Parry & Jo Fone: Two incredible Bigs who consistently go the extra mile to champion our mission, support our events, and spread the word about the power of mentorship!

🎓 Alumni of the Year – Tim Cavell: Celebrating his continued dedication to BBBS through advocacy, community connections, research, and ongoing involvement long after his match ended.

⏳ Years of Service – Lauren Enix: Celebrating 5 amazing years of showing up for her Little and demonstrating the lasting impact of consistent mentorship!

To our award winners, volunteers, and supporters: THANK YOU! Your dedication reminds us that connection changes lives, and we couldn't do this work without you. 💚

Adventure starts here! 🧭🌲 Last week we had the first meetup of our Ramsey Outdoor Club, where Littles learned how to navigate using a compass and map alongside their mentors!

A huge thank you to our incredible mentors from ArcBest and the Sebastian County Opioid Task Force for partnering with us to create opportunities for young people to learn, explore, and build meaningful connections. 💚 We can’t wait to see where this adventure takes them! 🗺️✨
