The conference brought together physicians, APRNs, PAs, other advanced practice professionals, nurses, prehospital providers and therapists who care for stroke, neurology and trauma patient populations.

Training great physicians starts with great teachers! 💜

Congratulations to Dr. Sheena CarlLee, who’s featured in this month's issue of Celebrate Arkansas! From chief resident to internal medicine residency program director, her journey reflects her commitment to academic medicine and the future of healthcare in Arkansas.

After earning her medical degree from UAMS, Dr.Sheena CarlLee completed her residency at the University of Iowa, where she later served as chief resident and realized academic medicine was a true passion. When she returned to Arkansas to help design a new residency program in partnership with Washington Regional, she looked to the strengths of her own training program. “Making education the priority, first and foremost; open communication and a supportive work environment; a well-rounded curriculum, focusing on the physiology and disease processes; critical thinking; and advocating for patients to get the best care possible,” she details, became the foundation as CarlLee and her colleagues built the program from the ground up. “This was a team effort every step of the way. We have an amazing group of faculty leaders in this program, who each bring so much to the table and set an excellent example for our residents daily on how to be great physicians, great colleagues, and how to give back to our community.”

Two for two! 🙌 Washington Regional's Trauma Center team submitted two abstracts to this year's Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Annual Conference — and both were accepted for presentation this November!

TQIP is a national initiative that helps hospitals measure and improve trauma care. Being selected means our team's work will be shared with roughly 3,000 trauma professionals from around the world at the TQIP annual meeting in Anaheim, California.

A big shout out to Clinical Research Program Manager Rachel Purvis (left) for helping craft the abstracts and congratulations to Trauma Program Manager Heather Beauford (second from left) and the entire Trauma Center team for the work they do that will be shared on a national stage!

Congratulations to Washington Regional Associate Vice President of Surgical Services Alex Woods on being named to the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal's 2026 Forty Under 40!

Since joining Washington Regional in 2011 as an ICU nurse, Alex has helped lead patient safety efforts, served as director of Washington Regional Physicians’ Specialty Hospital, and now oversees surgical services for our system. We're proud to see her leadership recognized!
