Three families, one community, and a shared commitment to creating opportunities for future Razorbacks.

John and Harriet Mack, Jim and Nancy Swearingen, and David and Marilyn Swearingen have established scholarships at the University of Arkansas to support students and invest in the future of our state.

Their generosity will help Arkansas students overcome financial barriers to higher education and provide lasting support for students pursuing architecture through the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design.

With deep roots in Northwest Arkansas, these families are showing how investing in students today can make a lasting difference in the communities they will serve tomorrow.

For Sara Edna Gregg, every note she played on the piano and every moment she lived carried intention and heart.

The first student to earn a music degree from the University of Arkansas, Edna helped shape the early sound of our Department of Music. Her dedication to her craft set a tone that resonates through our halls today.

To honor her legacy, her grandson, Gregg Herrell, and his family established the Sara Edna Gregg Memorial Scholarship through a charitable estate commitment. They later chose to fulfill the commitment during their lifetimes, allowing the scholarship to begin supporting students sooner.

The Herrell family’s gift supports music students who share her devotion to excellence, creativity and the quiet discipline that turns practice into artistry. Her legacy will continue to resonate through every student this scholarship supports.
