Check out what our graduated Choral Scholar Abbey Young has been up to since Chorus Angelicus!
“My name is Abbey and I am currently a Political Science major at Winthrop University in South Carolina. I am looking to add a music (choral) performance minor in my near future. I attended Chorus Angelicus from 2019 until just last year, and even claimed the spot of Choral Scholar by my last year.
Chorus Angelicus was probably one of my biggest steps into the music world. I loved to sing and perform on stage, and was lucky enough to be invited by Andrew Skinner into the junior choir in seventh grade after working with him in a show. My ability to read and perform music would continue to grow and improve throughout my time working with both Mr Skinner and later, Gabriel. Not only that, but I was able to form precious relationships with my fellow singers, and creating life-lasting best friends.
Chorus Angelicus has taught me that even if you don’t pursue the arts as a major, or ‘professionally’, you will still have a home within the music. It will always be there, and will always be ready in case you decide to return, or even visit every so often.
If you’ve been considering joining, take the leap! All of the people you meet are so incredibly smart and talented, and they will help you find your way, even if they don’t know it at first. Music is a universal language, I will always encourage everyone to fit it into their daily lives.”
