A big thank you to all who helped support the Syrian refugee family of five. Thanks to your generous furniture donations, we fully furnished their apartment and were even able to furnish apartments for three additional families! We also covered their rent for April to help provide a stable start here in Connecticut.

We are looking for some help for a refugee family!

A family of 5 Syrian refugees* with 3 small children just came to Connecticut. The organization that was initially helping to resettle them lost funding, so they are struggling to get on their feet. The Gebreselassie family left Ethiopia yesterday evening and they will be landing in the US this morning. GHRRC will be picking them up from New Haven this afternoon and bringing them to their new home:)

We are welcoming a new refugee family on Sept 15th. They are a family of 3 ( a woman, her son, and her brother) from Eritrea.

We are looking for donations of items for them and to furnish their apartment. If you would like to help, the list can be found below

There are 30,000 Afghans currently on bases throughout the world waiting for resettlement. The United States plans to bring in 2,500-3,000 per month over the next 3-5 months.

This year there have been 644 arrivals in Connecticut as of March 4th. 500 were resettled through IRIS.

IRIS expects 600 Afghan and other refugees between now and September 30th…so a family we can co-sponsor should be arriving any day now
